Russian invasion of Ukraine

Careful with what you wish for. Putin's war started out as, supposedly, a short military action to 'liberate Russians who wanted some reunification with their 'home nation'. It's gone badly wrong for both sides, Ukraine has seen thousands of its peoples lives or livelihoods destroyed. Russia has seen the humiliation of it's army, but, it is still there. The only way out now for Putin is for NATO provided weaponry to hit his troops on Russia itself. He will then be able to claim to his trusting Russian public that NATO is the aggressor, seeking to destroy his country and that threat can only be met by his forces using the big one.

Not sure I agree with that.

Putin, if inclined I believe, would use nukes without first justifying himself to the Russian populus. Personally, I don't think he would use them against NATO even if Russian soil was being targeted by Ukraine.

If Putin wants an out, he could withdraw his troops claiming he met his objectives.

Russia has however, alienated itself from the majority of the world for decades to come.

Only caveat I would add to those comments is that at last count up to around 700,000 russians with half a brain have fled across the border to mainly Finland/Baltic states and Georgia since conscription and economic sanctions kicked in. Obviously didn't think the country was worth staying and fighting for.

That leaves the dregs of an already dreg infested society staying behind to keep this bastion of an economic, cultural and liberal thinking country purring its way to it's final destination as NK2.

Adriavka is a railway halt way to the South of Bakhumat with 70 or so houses the only way out to attack Ukraine being through forests and boggy rivers. Trying to advance from there would be suicidal. I wonder how many died to take it. https://mapcarta.com/30573950/Map
