Yes,they are protected.The northern borders are fully protected by battle hardened National Guard troops on rotation and soilders returning from training abroad. Only a large deployment of Russian soilders would be a worry- these haven't been made.

So you are saying culturally the British and Russians are the same on admiring liars?We had a prime minister who was twice (twice!) sacked from previous jobs for lying. He was censored by UK statistics when foreign secretary for misleading. He then won a big majority in a General Election. He was then sacked by his own party as prime minister for lying, and he subsequently ran another campaign to become prime minister, supported by a significant proportion of his own MPs. He remains under investigation by the House of Commons for lying about a different matter.

The tories supported the war so their was no question he was going to lose the vote in the HOC and public support was around 90% in favour. There was no real debate at the time. It was seen as something that had to be done. Only years later did it start to look different.Nowhere near.
