Just seen a stat on the Abram in action in Iraq.
Dunno how true it is,maybe someone can confirm.
During the Iraq war,a total of 9 Abrams was destroyed.
2 intentionally,to prevent them falling into Iraqi hands,and the other 7.......by friendly fire.

Same with the tennis authorities and the Oz Open allowing Russian and Belorussian player in claiming by taking the flag image from the side of their name match listings makes it ok. The Abrams is the most potent tank in the world and has been battle-tested like no other armoured vehicle. Only nine Abrams have been destroyed in war and seven of those were in error in friendly-fire incidents. The other two were destroyed to avoid capture during the Iraq war in 2003.

Tanks - probably why the Russians are not happy with the West sharing - Putins foot soldiers have proven to be not up to it due to supply back up and equipment issues and I am sure they are shit scared that their main battle tank will be shown up by Western supplies of tanks to Ukraine.
I remember a lot of this happening post Cold War - the West spent years worrying about Russian armour etc - Russia fell and the West got people in there and found out it was all fancy knickers in the shop window - the rest was rusty shit that required on numbers being sacrificed rather than superiority.

Iraq war was 2003 - - that tank and the current Abrams are chalk and cheese - the 2 biggest issues are that it guzzles fuel and that it is way more complex to maintain and use.
I heard a former tank brigade commander today on the radio say that as important tanks are is the back up. You get about 300 track miles in a tank before a major overhaul so they need low loaders and trains to move them to the front - Leopards from all over the EU are welcome because they use a common fuel and a common refuelling system plus the same parts and ammo. The Challenger doesn't meet those requirements either its just the U acknowledges them we don't
The solution adopted by many is to accept call up but surrender at the earliest opportunity.
