Besides the willingeness from within there perhaps needs to be a longer term use of sanctions or means of a % of their oil revenue going to Ukraine

Ideally, the West could keep sanctions going until certain people were held responsible. Similarly, frozen assets could be used as leverage. The big question is whether the allies could stick to this or will there be backsliders?

Likely I don't fully understand the reasons, but would Russia bother firing a load of missiles that they know will get shot down? Just seems a waste to me

they have a habit of wave attacks,as seen with the infantry , they attack with 10,000 ,lose 9,998 gain 3 meters and claim victory , same as the missles ,they will send 100 ,99 will get shot down,one will hit a block of flats killing 20 civilians again claiming victory
