it's clear that this recent russian atrocity is condemnable
but not all russians are bad people, you know.

you name their two main cities,
i have only been to one of them,
wherein there genuinely are some really sound people.

i met one of the most beautiful women ever for one night only

This thread concentrates mainly on the fighting but just a reminder.
The BBC News at Ten have just had as their opening piece, a story about the Ukranian children who were removed from Ukraine and sent all over Russia. Some were fostered, some placed in children's homes.
If the fighting stopped tomorrow and victory declared for Ukraine no one should rest until ALL the children are returned. No deals, no compromise or forgiveness until they are returned. We the West should back Ukraine until this happens.
 
Macron, I really don't know what to say about his latest statement:

He started by alluding to a remark in 2003 by then-French President Jacques Chirac, who said East European nations who backed the United States and Britain’s decision to invade Iraq - opposed by France and Germany, among others - had missed a “good opportunity to shut up”.
The remark turned relations frosty between East European countries, and it got much, much worse after Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022. Easten Europe was simply exasperated with France and Germany’s aparant appeasement to Russia.

I'm not sure if Macron should be given some credit for his admission of having been wrong or whether he is saying Ukraine has one chance to be successful or it back to appeasing Russia.

I despair, I really do.
