Russian invasion of Ukraine

When watching the footage of trench clearing, I'm struck by the vast quantities of plastic bottles that already litter both the trenches and the surrounding land. To remain hydrated and effective in the field, a soldier reportedly requires anywhere between 2 and 12 liters of water per day, depending on weather conditions. As high summer approaches and the temperatures in that area climb, one would imagine that the Russian inability to replenish stocks of fresh water along its front will become a major concern.

Some of the ones who surrender look like extras from a Japanese POW camp. Even at the start of last year their soldiers had to scavenge and loot food.

And that was when they had largely uninterrupted supply lines. Their logistics are likely to worsen considerably in the coming weeks, and their inability to supply fresh water will prove fatal, literally.
