Russian invasion of Ukraine

What is currently known about the Il-76 crash:
▪️
The geolocation of the place where Il-76 was shot down and this place on a Google map indicate that it was flying from Belgorod, not towards Belgorod.
▪️
Locals confirm that it flew from Belgorod."The plane was leaving Belgorod, not flying to Belgorod. It was seen over Belgorod by Pepl readers and was already reported smoking at the time. The direction of the crash also indicates that the plane left Belgorod and was moving away from it," - the Telegram channel "My Belgorod" says.
▪️
There are no fragments of bodies or the whole airplane construction on the photo from the crash site. But the explosion in the video looks very much like a detonation. A massive one.

The chances of us ever knowing the truth are virtually nil, though there do appear to be some reports that it had taken off from Belgorod.

The explosion in the video suggests it had a large fuel load (at least). If it had taken off from there, then it probably wasn't carrying PoW's, or indeed missiles, and planes don't always refuel after a landing, it may have been a short stay, on route from elsewhere.

If the village it crashed near is accurate (Yablonovo), then I'd say it was more likely inbound into Belgorod than outbound from it, but we can't say for sure.

There are reports doing the rounds on twitter than it may have had a load of Anti Air missiles onboard.

HUR official statement:

GUR informs: The exchange of prisoners was supposed to take place today, but it did not take place.

According to the Russian side, this happened as a result of the downing of the Russian Il-76 plane, which was allegedly transporting our prisoners.

Currently, we do not have reliable and comprehensive information about who exactly was on board the plane and how many.

For its part, Ukraine has fulfilled all agreements for the preparation of the exchange. The Russian captured servicemen were delivered in time to the designated exchange point, where they were kept safe.

According to the agreements, the Russian side had to ensure the safety of our defenders. At the same time, the Ukrainian side was not informed about the need to ensure the safety of the airspace in the area of the city of Belgorod in a certain period of time, as was repeatedly done in the past.

Ukraine was not informed about the number of vehicles, routes and forms of delivery of prisoners. It is known that prisoners are delivered by air, rail and road transport.
This may indicate deliberate actions by Russia aimed at creating a threat to the life and safety of prisoners.

Landing a transport aircraft in a 30-kilometer war zone cannot be safe and must be discussed by both sides in any case, because otherwise it puts the entire exchange process at risk.

Based on this, we may be talking about planned and deliberate actions of the Russian Federation with the aim of destabilizing the situation in Ukraine and weakening international support for our state.

The size of the explosion and subsequent fireball, I'm surprised they found any bodies, the photo's suggest the wreckage is over a pretty large area, and that fireball will have consumed a lot of non metalic material.

In the extended video that shockwave that reaches the woman filming it seems pretty strong! russia sink to new lows every week it seems. Even if there were no POWs on the plane, they will kill a load of them now and say they were on it!
