Russian invasion of Ukraine

Dmitri is being a clown, the rough population figures of men in the UK at that age range is 14.8million and I didn't include 18 year olds or 40 year olds in that or women. 34% saying they would fight if threat of invasion is still a lot of people going into the millions and let's be honest more would choose to fight if we was backed into a corner. It's a silly question really as you would only truly know your decision if the time actually come to make it.
It's a you gov poll not Dimitris ??

It's a daft poll and Dmitris comments are silly, all based on weird hypothetical scenarios of the UK being invaded which is a logistical nightmare for anyone.
Is it daft as you don't agree with the results? I am surprised and not at the same time. More people seem to want something for nothing all the while these days.

Ukraine has around 900,000 men fighting which is 12% of their fighting age manpower. So what are the other 88% doing? Most likely keeping the economy going and helping the war effort in other ways. Which is exactly what would happen here, not everyone is a fighter hence the use of conscription.

It is easy to fill out a poll saying you would fight but it doesn't mean a thing till you are facing the actual prospect of it, or bombs are landing in your cities.

FRONTLINE UPDATE 27-29 JAN

The northern front is showing increasing Russian gains north of Synkyvka as they try to outflank the village from the north. This is significant because the lines there have been static for a long time. The Russians upped their artillery barrages and stormed the forest area. Kupiansk is their ultimate target.
Further south Russian gains in Berestove area are the start of a southern pincer heading ultimately towards Kupiansk. Russian advances west from Makivka and Berestove have been small but significant and rapid.
There have been significant levels of fighting north of Klieshievka as the Russians try to press their attempt to get around behind the hills and cut the Ukrainian forces off. They know this won’t happen but the aim is to force a retreat and retake the land lost in the summer one way or another. Both sides made small inroads against each other and the situation remains fluid. The Russians are also pushing towards the outskirts of Ivaniske which is of concern.
Avdivka may bring some good news. There are strong indications that my assessment the Russians had moved the ‘spike’ attack into the dachas in the southeast, largely opportunistically, resulting in them lacking supplies and backup, has come true. Having no armour and a seemingly unimaginative command unable to exploit the opportunity, it’s fallen flat. According to multiple reports the Ukrainians may well have squashed the entire advance, though how far back they’ve pushed the Russians is hard to ascertain.
Russia continues to lob dozens of missiles, mostly S-300’s into Avdivka every day. It’s pretty much endless and any civilian still there is frankly insane. It’s just an endless story of random destruction - designed to make moving about and creating strong points for defence ever more impossible.
Further around the south at Robotyne, Russia made small gains in a field and tree line.
The situation in Krynky remains unchanged.
Overall, bad news in the north and good news from Avdivka.
This morning the Washington Post published its daily World View - largely concerning the war in Ukraine for a change. Their view and that’s supported by its sources, most of which are DoD and in Ukraine itself, are that the concern about ammunition is becoming a crisis. Not just heavy artillery but even machine gun and infantry ammo. The US was supplying millions of small arms rounds and now it’s not.
The feeling the West dithered too long to supply what was needed, suggests we squandered our best chance of getting the Russians out.
I don’t think you or I need convincing of that.

Slava Ukraini !

Ukrainian "Baba Yaga" drones are wreaking havoc on the Russians in Krynky area.
There is no let up for them.....when nightime falls,Baba Yaga comes out to play.
This is not a kamikaze drone, she drops her load(33lbs) and returns to base.
Loaded with thermal imaging cameras, there is no escape.
Apparently, the Russians flee, just on hearing her rotors.

russians sadly have their own thermal imaging drones too now and have been using them effectively. Ukraine had the headstart on them but the gap is slowly closing.
