Russian invasion of Ukraine

Excesive, probably not. Realistic when theres a huge cost of living crisis, maxed out on the National Debt -very unlikely
The issue is the equipment. I guess you could train soldiers sailors and airmen relatively quickly. IE 1 to 2 years??

But you can't build warships that quickly. We have two Aircraft carriers and from what I've read , we don't have enough combat ready Frigates or Destroyers or RFA support ships to accompany them. Plus we don't have enough aircraft to put on them. The navy has been systematic run down by successive governments which is nothing short if a disgrace.

We flew RAF planes from Cyprus to bomb the Houtis when we have £6b of carriers we can't use.

Problem with your argument about Russia not unleashing its full military might is that they are two years into this war and they still dont have air superiority over Ukraine.

This is something that the Alies achieved over Iraq in a few weeks. Why would they not want to have this superiority?? Why would they want Ukraine to still be able to launch attacks with their air force ? Your reasoning is nonsensical.
On this point, this excellent video shows how it was done..

Big issue for the armed forces atm is not the equipment , but the resources to serve on them

So we don't have enough RN personnel to fully staff the ships??
Over the last decade there has been a huge retention issue with the Navy and recruitment has fallen short of demand.

Was discussing this the other day, people in the services no longer happy to commit to 20 plus years, so opt out after a few years and good qualifications

An interesting opionion poll posted by Dmitri:

Dmitri is being a clown, the rough population figures of men in the UK at that age range is 14.8million and I didn't include 18 year olds or 40 year olds in that or women. 47% saying they would fight if threat of invasion is still a lot of people going into the millions and let's be honest more would choose to fight if we was backed into a corner. It's a silly question really as you would only truly know your decision if the time actually come to make it.
