Russian invasion of Ukraine

Do you think any of those groupings are happy about Sweden and Finland being in NATO?

Does it make much difference? If they were ever going to invade either of those countries it would only be to go through them, so whilst it wouldn't have triggered article 5, it would still have provoked a NATO response.

If anything it helps feed into the narrative of Russia being under threat from NATO encirclement. You are using logic and facts where the narrative Putin relies on is an emotional one.

"Russia stands alone as a friendless victim and it wasn't her fault"

Ukraine, - Budanov gave an interview to CNNAccording to him, the next six months will be interesting, because during this period the current advance of the Russian Federation on the front line will end.For Budanov, the war will end in only one way: "The establishment of justice - that's how it will end... the return of what was lost."When asked whether Budanov is being considered as a possible replacement for Zaluzhny, the head of the GUR stated that "I personally have no conflict with anyone

My problem with it all is quite simply "with what ?"

They will still have a fair whack of troops/hardware kept behind to defend the Mother land incase of attack, obviously no where near the levels they had before Ukraine. but there is no way they would leave there homeland undefended. they would certainly be able to form a mid size attack group to carry out any thing like this.

You don't "defend the motherland" by attacking someone else, as they've already discovered in the last 2 years, in fact they seem to be struggling to "defend" as it is.

thats not the point that was being made. You asked "with what <would they attack with>" which I answered.

If they want to test NATO's resolve by attacking some non strategic area of a NATO country to see how things pan out, they have troops and hardware designated for homeland defence they can use if they so choose. they havn't emptied out there home guard in Ukraine.
