Yes, a negotiated settlement. Will involve some painful concessions by the Ukrainian side, but compared to losing a generation of young people this would seem preferable to me. However, if the Ukrainian people want to carry on fighting I respect that and wish them well. Just don't think this war is headed for the happy ending most on here would like to see.

I think it depends what you mean by "negotiation".

A best case scenario for Ukraine is probably a Russian withdrawal covered by some fig leaves to address Russia's notional concerns (eg protection for Russian languange) which Russia can portray as "denazification achieved".

A ceasefire on current frontline positions and acceding to that in perpetuity is a worst case.

These are very different "negotiations"

But anyone advocating for it now is plainly doing so on the broad basis of the latter, namely keep what you’ve got. There is no other logical option. The notion that Russia are going to give up territory in exchange for a few undertakings around Russian culture is actually insane.

He won’t answer the question because he can’t. Nobody ever does whenever it gets asked. Nobody will say in all seriousness that Putin can be trusted to keep to an agreement because he demonstrably and plainly can’t and/or won’t.

I'm no supporter of Putin but after seeing that, it's probably a good thing Biden doesn't meet or talk with him.

He would run circles around Biden if they ever had a conversation, especially in public. He was able to switch between many topics easily and converse about them and could recite 1200 years of European history off the top of his head in detail.

Biden didn't even get one minute into his press conference yesterday without the president of Mexico and Egypt confused.

If the war stops now and Ukraine give Russia the lands it holds the second after that they become part of NATO, no ifs or buts any twat tries to veto it gets kicked out of NATO, that’s the only way you stop him coming further later. If the orange Gimp gets in Europe need to step up like Poland is doing and get a military that can fight Russia although I think we have the technology to do that already. Never stop sanctions on Russia turn them into North Korea take all the frozen money give it to Ukraine to rebuild.
