There is a caveat there, as a significant number of Kashmiri pundits had to leave to other parts of India in the early 1990s due to the riots. So, if they and their grand-children were still in Kashmir, would it still be 20% ? I doubt there will be that many who want to join Pakistan these days with the economic and political situation there. Its another tragedy that does not have a solution.

Whilst I disagree with practically everything posted by the Chinese and Indian posters on here about Russia, it’s actually quite fascinating to see opinions formed by people actually living in those places. It’s a great advert for this forum that such a diverse range of views can be seen in one place. It’s far less an echo chamber than any other online forum I can think of.

Dont think anyone has said that have they ?
The only discussion was around the view from within India that Russia annexed crimea on the basis of the local population wanting it, albeit that it was a sham election and if it would also be acceptable if the same happened to other regions around in the northern areas of India.

Its clear that neither India or Pakistan are aligned with the west, the only difference from a political point of view is who they buy their arms from. India being Russia and Pakistan historically being western equipment however of late they have started buying Chinese tat.

Everyone looks after themselves but you would have thought India may have been more empathetic to the west considering the ties with Britain and Europe.
 
Because the vast majority of Indians live in India. If sympathizing with Russia is beneficial to India's national interests, why not? If Western countries are dissatisfied with this, they should sanction India. But Western countries will not do so because they know that they need India as their ally. Since Western countries cannot sanction India, why can't India act as a middleman?

He's got you there, Your argument is poor to non existent, Countries don't santion other countries over where their people live.
