It's easy saying we will spend this percentage when they knew they wouldn't win.

Judge them on their past record. I'd say they've left the British military in a poor place.

Just as I'll judge Labour by what they do.
So far it's looking like a shit show.
A budget to kill growth. Therefore a smaller cake in the longer term that you can no longer carve up slightly differently without affecting the real terms amounts given to other existing commitments.
Sadly I voted for Labour. Careful what you wish for I guess.
But as I said for a different thread.

For this thread, a lot of folks who voted Republican will peobably be thinking the same thing soon.

I don't want to go off topic. I will just make this footballing analogy. Labour took over a football club in complete disarray, and you're judging after a few games.

As for the state the Tories have left the military in, the army would struggle to fight a large scale battle against a capable enemy, never mind fight a war against one.

Killing business with a double whammy of increased employee costs and the costs of enhanced employee regulations does not growth make. Employee wages in the private sector will be below inflation and business nvestment will drop for the next few years - guaranteed.
As to military spending, my goodness your memory is short. Labour were as bad from 1997. Cold war dividedend - my arse.
Any way that's it on non Ukraine matters from me.

Killing business? Listen to yourself. Compare the price of everything from a pint to a house and virtually everything in between pre- and post-Covid. They're not even similar, but if all these companies can't afford to give their staff a much-needed pay rise, where's all the money gone/going?
When I worked at the MoD during the Thatcher era, there was a saying: "There's always the money for wars."
