Russian invasion of Ukraine

That theory is laughable when seen in this context, and what this map doesn't tell us is how much equipment and personell they have lost taking so little.

That "gain" of territory is seen by news outlets like the bbc as russia "winning", which is a ridiculous take on things really.
tbf I think the article said Ukraine was losing rather than Russia winning, which has to be correct in broad terms because they have lost so much, but I agree the apparent sentiment behind the narrative is incredibly one dimensional and simplistic given the cost/benefit ratio for Russia.

They have lost so much from this conflict, and should absolutely continue to.

Two things that will happen this year:
[1] Russian Tank and other Armoured Vehicle (AV) production will collapse by the summer - The bone yards are running on empty. New vehicle production is miniscule without old equipment in the bone yards.
[2] The Russian Economy will implode without an armistice or a peace treaty. It should be noted that Ukraine is unlikely to accept an armistice without NATO guarantees and/or peace keepers, oitherwise Russia will simply rearm and "Go Again".

An interesting article on the state of Russia's economy:

Sweep no, insidious creep through Europe maybe.

One thing that is safe to say. Russia has shifted to a full war economy. the risk from them is growing rather than diminishing. especially in terms of hybrid warfare.
That map is 12 months "gains", at that rate it would take them about 500 years to creep through Europe, the risk is diminishing not growing, as they are also running out of soldiers and equipment.

That’s with a lot of west support. A lot of that support is likely to go away this month with Trump taking power.

With hybrid warfare rising and clear election interference going on through out Europe it won’t take much to shift opinions and cause divides.

Also I’m not suggesting this is imminent.

Feel like a long game is in action. Even if Ukraine and Russia sign a peace deal this doenst feel to me like it’s ending any time soon.
