Russian invasion of Ukraine

NATO members had agreed to spend 2% as far back as 2006 though, that was Trump’s problem and he was right to raise concerns.

The problem was he raised them in public which undermined the entirety of NATO and probably led to Russian and Chinese confidence.

What the likes of @SWP's back cannot understand is, that Trump was a fucking idiot but the background of his point was right.

It’s been a long-standing conversation within the military.
Whilst the background of Trump’s point may well have been correct, what he actually said was factually incorrect and deliberately so. Why people make excuses for him I’ve no idea.

What happened between 2006 and 2008 that caused military spending to decline?

Probably a good idea to stop tagging him because it makes you look more needy when you do it so close together. But more importantly, he lives in Borneo, local time about 6:50 AM.

Let him have his morning piss and frosties before expecting a response.

I was going to say He’s a million miles away from Boris at the moment, unless it turns out he’s been throwing piss ups during the countries time of crisis.

Although having said that, I do think Johnson has managed this situation quite well so far, apart from literally running away from being asked about Abramovich.
Managed, a perfect assumption.

’Apart from’, finishes it.

Not sure it was Trumps problem as such, it was more his justification for looking into getting out of NATO. I don’t believe he thought he would get the outcome he was publicly saying he was.

I think we’re well beyond the point with Trump of taking his rhetoric at face value, particularly when there’s a potential subsequent benefit to Putin, surely.
