Whilst the background of Trump’s point may well have been correct, what he actually said was factually incorrect and deliberately so. Why people make excuses for him I’ve no idea.NATO members had agreed to spend 2% as far back as 2006 though, that was Trump’s problem and he was right to raise concerns.
The problem was he raised them in public which undermined the entirety of NATO and probably led to Russian and Chinese confidence.
What the likes of @SWP's back cannot understand is, that Trump was a fucking idiot but the background of his point was right.
It’s been a long-standing conversation within the military.
