Sacking Mancini... was there even a choice?

I watched the Reading game on a live stream and watched us turn on a pretty good performance. So, yesterday I turned up with the lad and grandson and expected a carefree performance of entertaining football given that the players wishes had come true. When I saw the team selection I thought it strange that certain players weren't playing. Not necessarily Vinnie & Nasty, but players like Silva, Clichy, Aquero, Barry. Although the latter was ably replaced by the excellent performance of Jack Rodwell. What followed was 90 minutes of non descript football. An end of season game with nothing to play for, perhaps. But what I did find mildly disquieting was the amount of finger wagging and pointing that seemed to be going on. It seemed to centre around Hart, Nasri, Milner and Yaya. I got the impression that all is still not well in the camp. I hope it was just me reading to much into this or I think Pellegrini has a lot more work to do than we envisage. Next season should be a big season for us. But I do have this awful nagging feeling I can't shake off and it has absolutely nothing to do with the change of manager.

I saw Hart looking very pissed off and angry after conceding a goal (cant remember which one) and having more than a few angry words with other players. Also noticed Yaya andTevez or was it Nasri (again cant remember exactly) having a bit of a go at each other. You can look at it both ways, was it something leftover from the dressing room or was it merely anger at a shocking performance and they want better. Make your own mind up but I do get the feeling we're not all #together at the moment in the dressing room.

Why does it matter. He's gone. He won't get the chance to right the ship or fail to right the ship.

And regardless of your opinions there is no way of knowing whether he could have fixed things or not.

If its true about the player revolt against the manager then they all should be ashamed and that includes kompany whos supoosed to lead by example. If i was khaladoon i would have transfer listed those players. Disruption is not what we need! Who knows they might do the same if Pelle is incharge. Spoilt brats

You can use that argument if it's one or two being disruptive but when you've alienated virtually all your first team squad, many of your coaching and backroom staff, the former doctor, the former and current DoF, the CEO, the Head of Communications and quite possibly the owner as well then you might have to accept you're the problem.

4 days later we out play chelsea at wembley.

You know the score when it comes to modern footballers, they are what they are. It's pointless expecting them to be anything different. I will say that I think we're lucky to have players like Vinny, Joe, Silva, Aguero, Zaba, Clichy etc. in our squad. It's not half as unprofessional as has been suggested this week.

Why do you keep speaking as though you have some clue as to what goes on behind the scenes?

I've talked a few times about playing to the opposition's level. Generally that's an effect of losing the dressing room as players are often enthusiastic about playing against better opposition than they are against Southampton with the title lost.

We went in for big players last summer, RVP, Hazard, De Rossi..why didn't they come? It wasn't because of the money..players talk, its gets about what kind of manager Mancini is, that's his style and its not a criticism of him but I think ultimately those players chose not to come because of Mancini and his style..every manager has a shelf life at a club and I think he reached his and the club recognised that..after winning the league the players lost their motivation and drive, it was his job to try and keep that momentum going, he failed, and our owners didn't come to the club to be failures..they wont accept second best and I guess we should be grateful for that

I think it's the puzzle that has been answered throughout the season.

Players could motivate themselves for those games- and their class shone through.

A lot of the games, particularly earlier in the season, we weren't firing on all cylinders, or fully motivated, but the superior class of our players enabled us to grind out victories.

Too many games, we just weren't motivated enough for the 'smaller' teams.

If that was Mancini's fault, then fine. It appears it probably was. What cannot be argued, is that he didn't get the best out of the team this season, apart from a handful of games.

As many have said, it's happened, so no point in dwelling on it.

From what his former players have had to say about him, Pellegrini appears to be everything Mancini was not in terms of man management, and hopefully we will see a different City this season.

Unless he's in the squad then he either knows nothing or is getting one persons skewed views on things. If you asked 5 of my workmates what we think of our manager you would probably get 5 different answers.

My guess is he either knows fuck all or knows an ex city player that still has contact with the likes of Joe or Micah and like most of us we moan about our bosses, especially if he's a hard nosed winner like Mancini.

Agree with this.

We are reliant on fantastic individual moments instead of consistent great team displays.

How many times did we see little spells of 10/15/20 mins when it all clicked and we looked fucking incredible but it was too little, too often this season and it hurts to see a squad with such quality win fuck all.

Wenger said City did not make a bid. Clearly mancini wanted City to do a deal. Whether he would have chosen City ahead of Utd I doubt. He was a shoe in as a regular in the Utd team, whereas at City we had 4 forwards, and we would not have paid him £250k pw either.

If he'd been given another year then Kompany, Yaya & Aguero would all certainly have left and probably a few others as well.

Well it is nice to see that they are actually loyal to the shirt and fans, so in effect they are just the mercenaries the papers made them out to be all along.

Nobody is coming out of this fiasco very well at all.

Just as an aside if YaYa hated him so much why did he sign a 4 year deal, this brings the question did he then know that Mancini was a gonna ?

If so this is also a poor outlook on how the club is run.

It will rage on until they make a full circle of all players, backroom staff, board members and tram drivers to blame for a state the team felt to in his last year.

I think we haven't had enough blame apportioned to the tram drivers ( at least 65% to blame for bobby mancs departure) they are a powerful force in football management and often overlooked because they to all intents and purposes appear in plain sight to be 'just driving the tram' The grim reality as we now know is via the power of the tram drivers cerebral cortex they have been wrecking the morale of the players and become a disruptive and malign influence both on and off the field

Players spitting there dummy out got Bobby the sack. What a joke. It went under the radar that most of the fans had done one me included for the lap of honer. No honer in this lot I'm sorry. When players have this much power it's wrong.

I heard Noel Gallagher say "if we need to get someone in to pamper the players then so be it, it's there club". Errrr sorry I thought it was our club, another one out of touch.

No manager over 60 has ever lasted more than one year at a big European club fact. Well be luck to get forth next year.

Club sold it's soul. The sooner fan see that we don't matter anymore then and only then can they see whats going on. Just loot at the evening news with the disabled fan.

He didn't have the go, the club needs stability and we had one of the best managers in the world,
Sure there was issues with some of the players in the squad but their is always going to be especially when some are being paid 200k+ a week and putting in sub par performances.

Egos exist in our squad, big time! And whether yous want to believe that your favorite players are all about the club and only the club, more than likely they are not. Mancini did his best and I come here sometimes and laugh at the posters that praised how he dealt with the Tevez situation now completely flip it and talk about how he contradicted himself,
In the next breath these same people are giving out about the "Rag" papers that they are no better then.

It wasn't perfect with Bobby, but we can't say anything because since Txiki and Soriano have come in everything has been ridiculously tight lipped and nobody knows exactly what was going on or what their "holistic approach" actually involves.
