Safe stand - Views changed ?

The only things that needs to change with safe standing is the whole concept needs to be confined to history alongside the threads such as "What can's I enjoy a woodbine whilst watching the game" or "What ever happend to the wooden football rattle, at matches"

I much prefer standing at a game rather than sitting, just like I prefer to stand at a gig rather than sit. To me, it always seemed inevitable that safe standing would be integrated to English stadia, however given recent events in Germany, particularly towards the end of last season it looks like going the other way.

I don't think we will ever see it.

These things aren't because of safe standing and it shouldn't be confused as so.

There are probably hundreds of YouTube vids of crowd trouble at all-seater stadiums.

The trouble has always started in the safe standing sections in these examples; it's for this reason many German ministers have called for the areas to be scrapped.

Would we all go nuts and start pyrotechnic displays on the pitch if 109-111 and the SS were recognised as safe standing? No, of course not, however if and when this is brought before parliament you can bet any opposition to it will hammer these examples down the throats of anybody and everybody before voting on a bill, and for that reason it wouldn't get out of the commons.
