Sam Allardyce: Epitome of why English football has lagged behind

I 100% get what your saying, but if that long ball works for a team (and I don't think it does for either Wolves or Everton) then I don't think we're in a position to sit all high and mighty about what style of football others should play just because we're incredibly blessed to watch City week in week out.

The high intensity, passing football that we play relies on having exceptional players in each position, and if just one or two of your team can't do it, then it falls down. Look at Peps first season and how some members of the squad struggled then. And these were players far superior to those that are at some of the lower premier league clubs...

It also takes a hell of a lot of practice, on the training pitch and then in matches.

I actually partly agree with BFS, Arsenal should have mixed it up more against us as we are the best at passing out and very used to the high press to get the ball back. Arsenal will play this way by the looks of it but get it right against lesser teams before trying against the best. Arsenal obviously couldn’t choose their first game but should have done it in spells against us not all the time, they can now work on it more.

If he spent more time coaching rather than taking brown envelopes he might have been a better manager with improved tactical nouse.

Actually thought England did a great job of playing it out from the back at the World Cup and we're far from the best at international level.

It's absurd that Allardyce gets work as a so-called expert. He has not won a single trophy as a player or manager. He is a serial failure and only in England are dinosaurs like him lauded.

pulling many sh*t clubs from the brink of relegation and in some cases leaving them in Europe on little budget doesn't class as a serious failure to me

We will have to disagree. Apart from Bolton where he got lucky he has ruined most clubs he has been anywhere near. His brand of football is why our national team has mostly been a laughing stock for 50 years.

can’t stick the fat **** but that’s a baseless accusation.
