Samir Nasri - a joy to watch

Nasri is a natural born footballer. His close control of a football is better than anyone I've seen in a blue shirt bar maybe Kinkladze who was on a similar level.

For a football purist he is an absolute joy to watch and doesn't get the praise he deserves sometimes. Thought he was excellent against Ajax.

Are you his mother ?

For me Nasri doesn't do enough as previously stated. He is a good ball carrier/retainer but it's started to become vey much across the pitch. I want him to be direct and go at the back line. Defenders hate being run at and with his close control he should be carving them open. Doesn't take pace just look at his goal v Fulham for Arsenal.

Goes missing too often.

When Nasri was at Arsenal and Marseille he was a great footballer, he used to burst from midfield with real pace, use a bit of skill and have plenty of shots from the edge of the area. He was very similar to how Mata and Oscar currently play for Chelsea.

For us however he's always been pretty poor but I don't blame him, I blame where he has been played. He plays out wide so he is picking the ball up in the oppositions third and is unable to do anything with it, he needs to be played as either a CM or CAM so he can really get on the ball more, similar to how Toure gets forward but obviously in a different style.

Surprised no one's mentioned his work rate v Ajax, he worked much harder than Aguero did.

Here's the thing. I was looking at him and I thought: He has no height so he's not going to win in the air. He has no weight so he will easily be shrugged off in challenges. So what is his role? To penetrate defenses, and play killer team splitting passes. Much like David Silva does. Except he hasn't been doing it recently. He used to produce these mazy runs at Arsenal and he seems to lack the confidence to attempt them at the moment. He moved laterally around the 18 yard box, passing sideways. I just want to see him take someone on in the box and drive some penetration. Even if he gets stopped there is a good chance he could be awarded a penatly.

Your right though, he is an excellent player. And he showed it last season. And I'm chuffed to mintballs he's in our side.

when he is on his game he is a joy to watch even for the neutral. he is a pain for defenders when he is in that mood.

this falls perfectly as we need a ball dribblers/carrier in the last third to create chances instead of knocking it around the pitch-going nowhere.

when he is full of energy he is class, but is prone to the odd poor game. glad he s here.
