This really is a big fucking insult to the Regiment especially the original fighters.
This has got decent actors, money spent on props/locations, why's it so utterly wank?
The overbearing music doesn't do it any favours and the direction's all over the place.
The book by MacIntyre deserves a lot better .

Am on episode three.
Enjoying it so far - no idea how much us based in reality but it's a fun series that's well acted, written and produced.
And the AC/DC soundtrack is the icing on the cake.
It almost has a sort of....Guy Ritchie vibe in a fun British "let's ave it chaps" kind of way.

Just watched the first 2 episodes....looking good so far. Great backing tracks, Stranglers and some oldies from Bon Scott.

Tonight they are jumping from a Dakota on operations - sadly this was not the case as they used the Bristol Bombay
Edit note - I think those that remained were retired in 1944 but they were one hell of a workhorse for the RAF

Best series I’ve seen in years, absolutely superb Posthumous VC on the way for Paddy Mayne aswell I hear.

I loved the book and loved the series too. Thought the main actors were superb and the people they portrayed would have thought that too.

To be honest having read up on the real Stirling’s life post war I’m not sure he deserves deification via tv.

Meanwhile the Stig will take the Panzer 4 for a lap to set a time in a Panzer 4. Paddy and an ex-cricketer will try and match him in a half-track and Chris will have a go in a US Deuce and a half truck......

As a series, not to be taken as 100% truth, I thought it was decent and enjoyed it. Is there a second series planned?
