Saturday lunch suggestions.

If you’ve got time to kill, The Drop in Chorlton is mega Caribbean food, but can be quite slow.

Proove in West Didsbury does decent pizza. Solita in Didsbury village is good for a burger, but Almost Famous in town is better if you want to get really dirty.

Or if you really want an experience, check out Freight Island, you can get everything there.
freight island with the variety available is a good shout, handy for the ground as well

Best kebabs of all time.

Geezer in there who wears a cap with an Eazy E jheri curl and face like Razor Ramon has been working in there for about 25 years, he’s the kebab don.
Wrong Abduls mate!
I done the lot of em 80s/90s
and the King of Kebabs was Abduls
Opposite the MRI next door to Gemini.
The Lamb or Chicken Kebabs were something else.
Babylon was the place for pizzas.
Is that Jerk jct still going in Chorlton?
I had some belting scran out of there a few times years ago?

Jerk Junction still going, still decent food, still shite service

People eat kebabs for lunch?
Wow, every day’s a schoolday

if you like curries etc and you’re coming from the M56 then I’d recommend the superb Amma’s Canteen. Indian street food and small plates, dhosas or full curries. Literally 1 minute from the Parkway at Southern Cemetery

There’s a world of difference between a shite midnight doner and a proper fresh kebab.

Abduls is a top place.

My favourite Manchester kebab place has to be the Persian Grill in Levenshulme though. Proper home made kobedas and home made bread in their clay oven, absolutely sensational.

I went to every Abdul’s many times, Levenshulme, Rusholme, the two on Oxford Rd, all decent.

But the original Fallowfield one was the daddy. When we were at Maine Rd it was £2 for a kebab and drink. Legendary.
