I can understand the LFC hierarchy backing Suarez in the early moments of this whole issue.
What I find to be strange from LFC's stance is that they must have known there was a degree of guilt quite quickly into the investigations and they must have seen that Suarez was at best disingenuous at worst a liar.
To then wear those t-shirts made a mockery of the understanding that there would also be no public comment on the issue until all evidence had been weighed and the rasons were published.
So the club as a whole stood shoulder to shoulder with a man with a dubious history in terms of attitude, and one who repeatedly changed his testimony and even changed his evidence to counter what his own manager and a senior club official had said he had said.
So Kenny went even further and made numerous comments backing the character of a man who is clearly not worthy of that support.
The club as a whole allowed the fan base to build up a false impression of the players behaviour in order to apply pressure to the investigating board, something the club also did with a 'defence by media' posture.
All of this has now been proven to be shallow, disrespectful, disgraceful and classless in the extreme and yet they will no doubt carry on in this manner as they have now painted the whole of LFC into a corner and torpedoed the once great name of a top European club in the process.
The lack of any substantive statement from the US franchise holders is interesting as there seems now a need for them, the ultimate owners and guardians of the Liverpool brand to act decisively.
What the owners do could save the reputation of the club but it will be messy and painful for them as it surely means a change of manager which will bring down the wrath of the LFC faithful.
Sometimes however the need to make a tough decision is beyond question and it simply has to be done.
Will they do it?
I tend to think they wont.
