Saurez [FA release investigation findings]

outrageous behaviour from lfc which you wouldn't expect from an organisation which - as they love pointing out - has a global profile. i know they like to be insular on merseyside and revel in 'the world is against us' mentality but you would expect the owners have a slightly more sophisticated approach to things so i wouldn't be at all surprised if they are fuming mad at the way this has been handled.

still at least this gives the scousers an excuse when they fail to qualify for the champions league.

What commercial damage is being caused by this? I can't imagine that Adidas and Standard Chartered will be delighted with the way this has been handled. And when they make their views heard Liverpool will have to act.

i think it's hard to say at the moment. it's all about branding these days and there's no doubt this has tarnished the lfc brand. dalgleish has badly misjudged this, it seems like he is still living in the 80s and genuinely believes himself to be 'king'. everything has changed since he was last in charge. individual players / the team aren't the primary consideration - it's all about the brand, sponsorship, profile, emerging markets. in short profitability and sustainability.

i don't think he's done irreparable damage but i imagine the owners will now have zero confidence in his ability to manage such situations in future

I can understand the LFC hierarchy backing Suarez in the early moments of this whole issue.

What I find to be strange from LFC's stance is that they must have known there was a degree of guilt quite quickly into the investigations and they must have seen that Suarez was at best disingenuous at worst a liar.

To then wear those t-shirts made a mockery of the understanding that there would also be no public comment on the issue until all evidence had been weighed and the rasons were published.

So the club as a whole stood shoulder to shoulder with a man with a dubious history in terms of attitude, and one who repeatedly changed his testimony and even changed his evidence to counter what his own manager and a senior club official had said he had said.

So Kenny went even further and made numerous comments backing the character of a man who is clearly not worthy of that support.

The club as a whole allowed the fan base to build up a false impression of the players behaviour in order to apply pressure to the investigating board, something the club also did with a 'defence by media' posture.

All of this has now been proven to be shallow, disrespectful, disgraceful and classless in the extreme and yet they will no doubt carry on in this manner as they have now painted the whole of LFC into a corner and torpedoed the once great name of a top European club in the process.

The lack of any substantive statement from the US franchise holders is interesting as there seems now a need for them, the ultimate owners and guardians of the Liverpool brand to act decisively.

What the owners do could save the reputation of the club but it will be messy and painful for them as it surely means a change of manager which will bring down the wrath of the LFC faithful.

Sometimes however the need to make a tough decision is beyond question and it simply has to be done.

Will they do it?

I tend to think they wont.

Of course they won't, because it would be completely idiotic to do so.
Why on Earth would they risk the wrath of the Liverpool fans who buy the tickets and buy the shirts to save their reputation amongst other club's fans (of which I don't agree with all this 'they're ruined' stuff anyway. It'll all blow over soon enough).

'Oh John from Norwich thought the way the manager stuck up for Suarez was a bit off? lets sack him and simultaneously annoy millions of our own club's fans.'

Like as not the Dippers will be revelling in another 'persecution' scenario....

we could well suffer as the wagons ( wheels nicked , up on bricks !) are circled....

Suarez is a nasty puss-filled sore on the arse of english (and international) football....hopefully this diving , cheating racistprick will have dragged them back down... but ... do you know .... I somehow feel that the plastic hoards in Singapore and the saddo press in this country won't let it matter.

Commolli (sp?) and Dalglish knew straight after the game that Suarez had used the term "negro". That in itself should have set alarm bells ringing. They should have been in damage limitation mode from the outset.

The way that LFC handled the matter has been appalling. I almost feel sorry for Suarez the way that they've dealt with the matter. Even on his worst possible day Garry Cook wouldnt have made such a mess of it.

The sponsors and other commercial partners will have far more say than the fans as their revenue is absolutely critical and they can withdraw it whereas the fans might moan but they'll still come to games and buy the shirts.

The best thing they could do is to read and digest the FA report and quietly accept it, take the ban and move on. But situations like this often call for scapegoats and Dalglish, brought in effectively as a caretaker on a 2 year contract and not really delivering the goods consistently, is an easy one.

i hate daglish more than ferguson.

there i said it,hes a fucking prick who thinks his club is amazing and so is he when they are not!!
at least fergie puts his trophies were his mouth is
