I reckon Liverpool were always going to accept this but just when the 8 game ban suits them. The owners will certainly want top 4 over Carling Cup and in my opinion he will play against us next week, then they will accept the ban. He will then miss 2 CC games and most likely 2 FA Cup games so only missing 4 prem games, Stoke, Bolton, Wolves and Spurs.
However if they had any sense and bearing in mind they are closer to Spurs than us, they would accept it straight away so he misses our game and is free to face Spurs.
