Savings

Although I agree with this I saw a report saying even if he did locals probably now couldn’t afford it and the tourism would disappear as they would have nowhere to stay so locals would have to move away, it’s just gone too far now and as they are changing the rules on Airbnb now as well lots could be coming up for sale.
Factor in little or no work...farming, local government or tourism.....all very restrictive and you just about summed it up.
Ironically a lot of the properties that were rental and have been sold have been sold to people in the midlands using them solely for holiday homes for 4 to 8 weeks a year. Nobody benefits except one family........

I hoarded some and took them to the bank, paid it into my account and swapped them for the new notes, back into my safe at home, where there is a will, lol
Your local bank changed them?? I had done years ago and they told me I had to go to the Bank of England in London and I did on a layover work trip. I still have a bunch of old notes probably at least 300 quid worth but haven’t been back for a while…

Lump sum doesn’t change the widows pension (still 50% of the original pension) in my scheme. I was surprised by that, worth checking.
In fact mine is the same I’d clicked the wrong link, so mine gets half of what I would’ve got before commutation, so not only did she get the lump sum tax free if she bumps me off she gets I half of what I would’ve got had I not took it. I did think this so had to recheck its because I was in the old scheme, the new one doesn’t do that.

So you've avoided a bit of extra tax on any further profit
yeah I'm thinking of selling my business in a couple of years and retiring. I've created it from nothing to something that hires 200 people so I don't fancy those plans being heavily impacted by a new government policy

Whatever you do, don’t tell her.

Yeah, done it several times , went to the bank and paid them into my account , i might have done it just in time and maybe you have to go to the bank of england once they expire

The so called "economic benefits" of the so called tourism "industry" is nothing but a fallacy and a myth anyway, nothing more than propaganda put out by the vested interests that are tourism business owners.

Those tourism business owners are the only people who make a decent liveable income from tourism, all other local people, including local business owners, are left socio-economically worse off as a result of tourism.

A few exploitative minimum wage, zero hours, seasonal jobs providing little more than pocket money mostly to kids, go no way whatsoever towards redressing the imbalance and the economic downsides of tourism.

Would there be any other jobs in these seaside towns though? I don’t live in those areas so what other employment is there?

Yes I believe you are correct. If the notes have expired, then you have to go to the Bank of England itself in London
