Where’s best to keep over £20k in savings?
I’m a bank at 4.2%, sure I can get better by placing it somewhere else

Not fixed, but currently 5.15%, which I think is best current rate.
If they change the interest rate you can always move it to another ISA.

Rings,necklaces etc are generally 9 cts gold not 99.9% pure like Britannia’s
prices today for selling gold
9ct £23.06 per gram
18ct £45.92 per gram
22 ct £56.21 per gram
24ct £61.36 per gram

These prices are what gold dealers will pay for scrap gold and fluctuates every few minutes,you can check by looking online what the price is

Nope Britannia's are coins look on chards or Hatton garden metals there are photos of the coins,and cheaper than the royal mint prices

I looked at trading 212 and I don't think it's fscs protected. Which made me look elsewhere.

It is FSCS protected, it just has an unusual way of holding your money.

Yeah that's the thing I don't know how much I'd trust them as the middle man. They say it's held in a bank which is FSCS protected but you won't know an account number or have any evidence it's there. I'm sure it would be fine but I wouldn't risk it.

Trying to open a joint savings account with the Nationwide and met the most unhelpful woman I think I’ve ever met.
Bear in mind we have separate accounts with them and a current account already. We went armed with all our proof of identity etc. No not allowed until an appointment on Nov 13th.

After we had given our current income details she couldn’t open an account. Neither would she remove our details we just gave her

Krugerrands are subject to capital gains tax on any appreciation in value. British gold coins (Britannias and sovereigns) are not as they are classed as coins like any other coin in your pocket.

We’ve decided on a Yorkshire savings account because they had a better deal, I complained to nationwide and got one of those generic emails back from them “they will look into it”
