Scariest away day following City

Sent a note to my mate in Darlo, heres his reply re Vagabonds:

Yes. I was a member. It was a small group of Darlo fans who didn't live in Darlo. Formed by a lad from Redcar. We used to take a minibus to away games. We even had our own song.

I've always thought of Hereford as being decent in terms of turn out. I think it has something to do with Garrison towns, Colchester was also a lively town to visit considering the lowly status of the football club, probably to do with having to deal with pissed up squaddies every weekend, sharpens the minds of the locals I'm sure.

As for County, they had deep seated rivalry with Burnley, there were stabbings and slashings on both sides late 80s. One of my first experiences of mither was when Bradford came to Stockport, early 70's, they brought thousands, they came out of the pop side onto the Railway end and virtually cleared it, I got a kick up the arse from a big fucker in silver Docs and a butchers coat. The Everton League cup game was another lively evening.

Yes remember the stories about Bradford at County.

Darlo get a few attending some games from Catterick and some continue following after they have left the army.
 
Just reading the book 'ninety', the foreword is by Tony Donnelly the founder of Gio Goi clothing. Didn't realise he was involved with City's mob, and Utd's by the sounds of it.

Ive never bin the monkeys ground...that match was at Feethams...late 80s pre season friendly......it kicked off.My first and only trip to the ground..one of me best mates at the time was a Darlo fanatic..i was best man at his wedding.met all his family up at Darlo before that pre season game.such warm friendly humble people......bit different to the monkey hangers we came across later that day, my mate had his elderly Dad with him and we were very lucky that day........
I remember walking round the opposite end at half time at Feeethams,late 80s.how cool is that?
And having the cricket pitch behind the ground....times change.
David Currie was the best player i saw for Darlo...tho Gary Worthington (related to Frank) was a neat composed striker i recall.Happy Days.
 
This isnt really scary but sums my dad up lol ...I got tickets for our 81 fa cup final (£3.50 per ticket) anyway we travelled up from margate on the train , I dont remember any of the journey, but this I remember....Anyway we get into Wembley very early in fact the first in our section because my dad wanted to stand with his back against one of the barriers to stop us being pushed forwards. So we did within a minute or so a Wembley steward told us to move to the front right against the fence. My old man said "no pal I want the barrier against my back". The twat of a steward wouldnt have it and the row got very heated. Remember we are the only ones in this part of the ground !. The steward went and got a cop to throw us out. The copper basically said we have to do what the steward wanted.
So there we are the only people in Wembley with our noses pressed up against the fence at the front. Nearly getting thrown out an hour and a half before kick off. My dad was now in a bad mood.
After about 20minutes the area started to fill abit and than that same copper came up to us and said some like "now that steward cant see you you can go and stand were you want" . So we went back to where we were to start with !.
I can remember thinking my first fa cup final aged 20 and my dad is going to get us kicked out an hour and a half before kick off lol
 
A funny story for me and a couple of my mates anyway was the Forest/City game when Crosby headed it out of Dibble's hand. We went with a few Forest fans on the train, and met them at the station after the game, we were only a couple of minutes in to the journey when this big black guy appears in the carriage and says " right any Forest fans on here are getting chucked off", we showed him our City tops whereas the three Forest fans were literally bricking it all the way back. We never did understand why this guy with a Manchester accent was on our train, he said he didn't know what station he was getting off at.
