Gritty performance by City - down 1-2 and a man, 10 v. 11 - away - we still managed to win.

Video review was off - took forever on the Otters penalty - apparently there was an equipment failure -which prevented the ref from seeing the replay.
The handball rule - as written - is 100% not the way hand balls are called - Otters did his best to move his hand out of the way - unintentional hand ball. But refs call these sorts of incidents fouls - so yes, I think it's a foul - by prevailing enforcement of the rule. The rule in the books needs to be changed though.
Also agree with the yellow for Otters given the penalty award.

Then Fernandinho fouled - someone - Sane? - somewhat harsh I thought at first - but it looks as if Fernandinho both held Sane slightly in the box - this happens all the time so I don't think that the hold is a foul - but then he additionally seems to accidentally trip Sane - so I'm OK with the penalty award there.
====
The 2nd yellow on Otters is very harsh - yes, it's a foul, yes it's a yellow - but a second yellow? I think that the ref should have cautioned Otters verbally and warned him that that's it - any further infraction and you're off.
Another unwritten "rule" of the game is that refs mostly try not to send men off - as doing so usually decides the game. I thought that the 2nd yellow on Otters was harsh in this context.

Other thoughts...
Did Edderson get an assist for our 3rd goal? He deserves one for that - penalty box kick from our side to a Sterling nearly in their box - pinpoint - amazing.

We were unlucky/unfortunate to see 2 penalties awarded against us - and I thought that we shouldn't have been reduced to 10 men.
That we won - and moreover that we won away - speaks volumes to the character/drive of our side.
Yeah I don't understand why he was overruled (if that is what happened). In the absence of a working screen for him to use, then it would appear that he should have stuck to his original decision. Have UEFA released a statement on that yet?
As you say, I have no issue with the final decision because I said I thought it was a penalty straight away, but I am not sure I am comfortable with the process of arriving at that decision having later brushed up on the rules of VAR.
He'll get his game time when he is readyPep has a blind spot regarding gundogan for me Foden should be getting half of the games Gundogans getting Foden has proved he gets a game by the scruff of the neck and di something Gundogan doesnt he keeps it safe far to often which when your on top of a game is fine! Him and kdb gave the ball away far to often.
Maybe mate, but as i pointed out earlier on, it's been a much more regular occurrence (bar last season) for Ota than it has for De Bruyne. But obviously they have different roles so there are different pressures involved, but the clever defender just doesn't do what he did there when on a yellow. So Kev is afforded more game time to get back to his best yet Ota was brainless - double standards there bud
"his calling card of late"100% agree. As much as I've been on the Gundo wagon I don't think Phil playing in his stead would hamstring the team. Gundos moments have been great but increasingly inconsistent... His disappearing acts unfortunately have become his calling card of late.
On a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 is 'Never a penalty in a million years' (e.g. Sterling v Shakhtar) and 10 is 'Absolutely nailed-on', last night's were both maybe a 5.Yet the 3 ex-pros on ESPN FC (who are all usually very supportive of City) think it was a penalty:
As did Olly Holt (who again is always very pro-City) whilst Martin Samuel says you see some given and some not.
I think it's fair to say that it's in the eye of the beholder.
