Schalke Travel Plans

Yes there are 3 of us on that one.

We are going to the Tractor museum after dropping our bags and then the heritage centre before taking in a local dramatic society's play in the evening. Feel free to join us.
Are you not doing the post modernist Rhur ceramic exibition?

I’m up for exchanging some train numbers over a coffee if anyone else has no friends ?? Maybe meet at the railway Musuem, I will be wearing full kit and thick round glasses if anyone wants to say hi ...

Ergh I think you should be in Off topic with the other Casey joneses where you have your own thread. This is for likeminded, educated, middle class people. That reminds me I need to iron my tank top for the trip.

You guys need to be careful over there, i have heard rumours that a few City fans do tend to get involved in drinking alcohol while on away trips, I just thought i'd give you the heads up as i didn't want you both being led astray or getting caught up in such shenanigans.

You'll thank me later......

Not got tickets but a couple of us are still over there, flying in to Dortmund on Tuesday. Where's everyone gonna be heading for drinks on the Weds? can't decide on staying on Dortmund, Dusseldorf or Bochum?

To be honest, I'd stay in Bochum till late afternoon, as there are far more bars than Gelsenkirchen

30 minutes from Bochum HBF to Gelenkirchen HBF- then it's a matchday tram to the stadium.
However, it's probably a 10-15 minute walk to the away end

Plenty of return trains, but normally you have to change at Essen (which isn't as difficult as it sounds)
Your matchday ticket will cover most of the journey, but I recommend that you visit the Bochum DB Information Office early afternoon, (they'll print-off your travel itinerary with platforms at Essen etc)
.
@Danamy
Alternatively the 302 tram runs directly (with 33 stops) from Bochum hbf to the stadium roughly every 20 mins. Journey takes a smidge under an hour so I think it will be quicker than traveling on a train from Bochum to Essen, Essen to Gelsenkirchen hbf, then tram hbf to stadium. No toilets on a tram though so make sure you go before getting on!

Going back, it looks like it is due to run at 23:08 and the last one is 23:38. There will be (well organised) queues, so I think the latter option is more realistic. If you miss that it may be a case of going back via Essen on a regional train.
