Scholes

Some of you sound like skysports employees. Talk about soundbite shite.

Scholes has been the best player produced by England since Gazza. Different type of player, but in terms of natural ability, I've never had a problem admitting that as a city fan.

However, let's stop with this scholes is still great bullshit. There were many competitive games last season, where he was well off the pace. He's played in a charity game, and a game against a championship side. Smith and Barton might as well have wiped his arse for him last night. Every time he got the ball, there was no effort to press. It was like a training game for Scholes, so naturally, if given that amount of time, he can still produce a few quality passes.

I would like you all to renew this thread after Scholes has played against an Everton, Spurs, Liverpool or Villa never mind arsenal, us and chelsea. I certainly do not fear Scholes this season whatsoever. So can we all put things into context please

Taggart is not daft he wont play against them he'll get the kickers out for them games

You prove my point entirely

When we play the Scum i bet Bobby has already told Nige to prepare for "Karate Kid 2". That'll stop the dirty ginger ****.

why do sky constantly defend him when he goes in late or two-footed? others players get pulled for it if they have a habit of being a dirty bastard. scholes though gets excused and almost laughed about. tonight alan smith said it's alright 'cos he wanted the ball. wtf?

Dead right, CityKev. There is a pernicious tactic employed by teams, MANUre and Dippers do it, where you target an influential player, take a booking and then rotate the bookings so that you don't go down to ten or nine because of the cynical and blatant fouling. SWP was often subjected to this kind of treatment.

Scholes belongs to a different group, although he may participate in the first group, where he is allowed at least four cautionable offences before the ref for shame realises that he is subject to the same laws of the game as everyone else. But this will normally happen in the 85th minute when the Ginger Pig has run out of puff and has delivered another match-winning contribution. It stands out a mile, and for pundits to just laugh it off shows how subjective and blinkered they are to anything wearing red. Scholes will commit dozens of fouls, similar and worse than the one for which Joe Cole walked, but he'll get away with it. He has spent the latter part of his career immune to the sanctions imposed on many others.

Would have been nice if the "random" fixture generator at the premier league had given us Newcastle at home to start off, they look awful. united look nothing special at all but, as usual, have been gifted a guaranteed opening weekend 3 points.
Thats not an entirely accurate theory. Last year they got Brum at home and, if memory serves they won it, marginally. The season before that they drew at home to Newcastle, and the season before that they drew at home to Reading. The fixture computer throws out what it throws out. There are no 'lets let united win' buttons on it, no conspiracy, no nothing. Besides, everyone has to play everyone else at some point, so it matters not at the end of the day. Newcastle, however, are complete pants with little to offer and with no obvious changes to come in to their squad. Impossible to tell at this early stage, but I can't see them surviving and might boldly say that there are 2 relegation places left to fight for. Like I say they are extremely limited to what they can do and other than the headless chickens of Guttierez and Routledge, they don't look like they can create much at all really. Bummer, (for them!).

Not entirely accurate, but close enough to raise some serious doubts.

2009 – home – Birmingham – 1-0
2008 – home – Newcastle – 1-1
2007 – home – Reading- 0-0
2006 – home – Fulham – 5-1
2005 – away – Everton – 2-0
2004 – away – Chelsea – 0-1
2003 – home – Bolton – 4-0
2002 – home – West Brom – 1-0
2001 – home – Fulham – 3-2
2000 – home – Newcastle – 2-0

2/8 at home. Only Chelsea away.can be considered tough, and that was before the real effect of the Russian's millions. None of the others areeven Europe contenders, let alone top 4 challengers.

What odds on this? Pretty high, jut I reckon not many bookies would give odds on United away for the first game.

You have to admire the little ginger twat. He is good. Newcastle are shite though, so it has been a bit of an easy night for him.

Shrek's had another mare though. Carrying on from his world cup shenanigans. I've never seen a players stock fall so far so fast as Rooney's has in the last couple of months. It's like he's playing with someone else's legs.

long may it continue :)

I hate the little ginger twunt but he's class it can't be denied, if he could tackle he'd be one of the greatest midfielders of all-time and tbh he's not that far off now.

If we sit off him he'll pick us to pieces if he gets the room he did last night.

The best players can change their game as they get older and that's what Scholes and Giggs have done

Good to know that Utd's best players are fast approaching their twilight years

9 pages dedicated to Scholes.

Get a fckin grip. He's played a charity game and a game against a championship side. I'd have looked like Xavi against Barton and Smith last night.

Dedicated is a bit dramatic. Its not just about last night, however he did set up a top goal with a pin point ball to Giggs. It is ok you know, to praise someone who has given the game what Scholes has given to it. Yeah he can't tackle and maybe he does know what he's doing there, but 14/15 seasons with the same club, never fucking about outside the game, perfect pro etc etc etc, that is allowed to be commented on even if its a united player.
