Scholes

NDJ needs to sort this fella out .... yeah he's good but a player with stamina and a good reading of the game should snuff him out.

Problem last season was that he controlled the match from a really deep position so NDJ was never anywhere near him. We needed to shove a defensive player like NDJ further up the field to sort him rather than hoping the attacking players would deal with him. Hindsight and all that but hopefully we will learn and next time deal with him properly.

Indeed, so exactly why are they at home this first season and don't get me started on them starting and finishing at home. Random my arse.

Its quite possibly at City's request since we completely relaid the playing surface and done various other bits around the stadium, maybe the extra week was asked for ?
Pitch was absolutely immaculate v Valencia. Nothing to do with the pitch.

Maybe thats where Yaya could come in to play!

Scholes is a wonderful player, pisses on the likes of Gerrard and Lampard who both get touted as "world class", like what someone already said, he's a proper player, he only has one flaw, and thats the club he plays for.

The one fixture that isn't random is the opening day fixture as the previous seasons Champions always start at home. In theory we should have been at home after being away for the last 4.
"Always" is an exaggeration. It was pretty random up to 2005/06 but the Champions have started at home in the last 5 seasons.

No no no!! Far to much of a reasonable theory. Its obvious its because everyone hates us, and everyone loves united, infact its that obvious i'm going to bed to dwell on it a bit. ;-)

To be honest, I'm not one of these who thinks everything is against City at all. I don't often whinge about refs and don't go for most of the conspiracy stuff at all but I do not believe the fixtures have been randomly generated over the last few years. I assume you don't work at the premier league, I assume you haven't used the computer or software that generates the fixtures? If you have then fair dos, if not, it is just your opinion as what I said is mine. I accept that united have had home starts when champions and am not arsed about that but the quality of opposition they have had is laughable and the fact that we have started and finished away several times is very odd. If it is random then they need to get the software fixed because as far as I can tell, it is fucked.

Great little player, always has been. Hope Mancini has a way of nullifying his threat come derby day.

It's not necessarily about a love-in, Scholes is nowhere near as annoying as some of their other players (namely Neville) - rivalry aside and looking impartially for a second it's hard to ignore someone held in such high esteem by people like Zidane.

I respect people in any sport who look after themselves well and try to be the best they can be. His passing is superb but it's not only that; 10 years ago he was famed for the shooting from 30 odd yards but these days with that becoming rarer it is like he has reinvented himself from a deeper position and his movement is outstanding.

We will need to be on our toes in the derbies this season.

When people pose the question "how many world class players do the rags have?" why do people always answer "Rooney and Evra"? If Scholes is not world class then i don't know who is. He's every bit as good as Xavi and Iniesta at keeping and distributing the ball. The problem is that he sprays the ball around from so deep that if you push a midfielder up to deal with him, you leave more space in behind your midfield that Rooney and Berbatov can exploit. Probably the best way to deal with Scholes is to have a second striker man mark him when you don't have the ball. Tevez would be perfect for this because he has the work rate and tenacity. I'd put Carlos on Scholes, leaving De Jong and co deeper so they can nullify Rooney and Berbatov.
