That’s fine, we see things differently, that’s what football is all about at times.

I would just hate to fall in the trap of demanding the England manager plays west ham players , must play how I want them to play, must be entertained, must not play any spurs players etc.

All that would absolutely spoil supporting my own nation.

Anyhow, not ‘hiding away’ from any posts to me. Got a newborn to feed then hitting bed with my new Southgate pillows. Laters blues.
My opinion pitches its tent far far away from the jingoistic "should have picked my teams player" main stage.
I have seen the manager in a final, and he crumbled. It was horrific to watch. It was a kid coming in at number 9 to bat and closing his eyes for a 1st ball blocking shot. He just doesn't have the character to win, or be a winner. It isn't in him.
The sad thing is his "nearly is good enough" aura will leak into the players.
As long as this guy is manager England will fail at any international tournament, even with this amazing pool of talent he has to work with.

Shows it’s a results business rather than this embarrassing demand of being ‘entertained’
Ok, now I am actually confused.

Because most of us “thick” fans you regularly denounce argue that Southgate should ultimately be assessed based on overall result, not average age of squad, total goals scored, or win percentage.

And you have maintained that it isn’t about entertainment or overall all results, but about the journey and friends we make along the way.

So which is it?

Yes, what’s the reason then ?
Because he is close with them and also has pressure from various entities to play them, regardless of fitness or form (as testified by selecting and playing Maguire, who now has more minutes for England in the last four days than with United in as many months).
