Scott Parker

Strangely, I used to think he was quite a decent player at West Ham but the way the media sometimes over hype him doesn't do him any favours.

Evidence of the media's influence and the public's willingness to lap up the shit they spout.

Average at best yet we are told he is the second coming, partly down to him teaming up with yesterdays news, good ol' bent Arry.

Will be interesting if Spurs new man ditches him and the media's reaction to him and his career drifting away once more.

I was really surprised that Levy let Redknapp sign him. It isn't like Spurs to sign a player for a reasonable transfer fee at that age.

For all our joking, Twitcher has done a very good job at Spurs and to suggest otherwise is a little churlish, but good fun all the same. Levy will recognise that but will have seen what we have all seen in that when push comes to shove, the real big games, he has failed to deliver and the time has come to move on.

Spurs and Twitcher can harp on about being unlucky to finish 4th and not get CL football but given the position they were in, they imploded big style and that coupled with Arry and his (alleged) legal battles that are still to come and his outrageous courting of the England job whilst Spurs were imploding, his exit was nailed on and i don't blame Levy one little bit.

Spurs will be better off without him imo.

An international defender should be able to defend. Johnson is a poor defender. To add to that, he does not look fit enough.

As for Parker, he is an extremely limited footballer. The most flattering thing I can say about him is that he is a pest to the opposition. However, at international level you expect a middielder to have a bit more in his locker. His passing is poor, he does not read the game very well, he is not a goal threat, is ineffective at linking defence with the attack and he appears unable to create anything. We may as well replace with a road hump.

Saying that, I thought he played as well as he can expect to against France, even though he was not close to being one of England's best players. I'd rather Jones playing in midfield as it would add a bit of pace and drive to the team.

Parker might be shit but this is just taking the piss....get out

I wouldn't want either in the team. It's just a case of picking the 'least worst' option.

For 5m he was a good acquisition, Sandro wasn't fit for the first half of the season and Huddlestone out for all of it and Livermore hadn't been tested in the premier league at that point. With Modric's future being uncertain and playing the industrious and ever hard working box to box midfielder Niko Krancjar in the middle against you it was clear a short term fix was needed. Considering that was the only transfer money we spent (whilst also selling around 25/30m of dross) it was a successful transfer window, strengthening us greatly, but obviously for the short term only with Ade Brad and Parker.

Maybe, just think it would be more in keeping with Levy's policy to spend 5 million on a player who would have some resale value. I think he was an ok signing, nothing more, despite the press jizzfest. Usually Spurs only seem to sign older players when they are on a free transfer and Levy strikes me as being the kind of bloke who wouldn't want to lose even a penny on a player. although being a Spurs fan I imagine you know much more about Levy's transfer policy than me.

I think you're right in that normally he wouldn't spend such money on a player with little resale value, but after being taken apart by both Manchesters and Modric's paddys, a lift was needed in the centre of the park.

It'll be interesting to see how he fares under the new manager, I think if a manager comes in from the continent he is more likey to develop Sandro in to the player he can be as opposed to playing Parker for the player he is. The former has the potential to be a much better player than the latter in my opinion.
