Swansea have released the fee so I don't see us getting him for less than £7-8m, the best result on City's part would be either to buy a better player(please) or get him for £6.5m as a compromise.

take it or leave it final offer now

can't be bent over the barrel by the likes of swansea

and if they leave it then fair enough but fuck them when they come knocking in future

I wonder if Marwood will get the blame for the coming hurricanes .

Ultimately, this transfer window has not gone how anyone expected.

As i said in another thread, I cannot believe this owners would suddenly become super prudent after winning the league by a whisker and exiting at the group stages of the champions league.

Ultimately, someone will be to blame. It might be Marwood, it might not be. But I really don't think the owners would suddenly change their approach from players like Aguero, to Rodwell and Sinclair.

As it happens, I like Rodwell and Sinclair, but I also expected a starter who would instantly improve the team.

They did say a couple of years ago that the spending wouldn't carry on. I think money is still there to spend but we don't need signing as urgently as before.

Still think we'll get a couple of good ones in before Friday anyway.

Yeah, they did. i never expected a huge influx this summer. But just surprised we haven't brought someone in to really help us build on last seasons success.

As you say, couple of days left though.

Personal view - I'd walk away - a) I'm not reall convinced - but if he does sign i'll get behind him and hope he does well, b) Swansea (and others) need a message from us not to mess us about - this stinks of a club taking the piss c) if we really want him - pick him up next summer for nothing - the £5m fee added to his wages over 3 years will be attractive.

I know he's nothing special or anything but still, it hurts to miss out on him. A player like De Rossi I can accept us missing out on but if we can't even sign a fucking Swansea winger then who are we going to sign?

I woke up this morning to stories from the Swansea chairman slagging us off for the way we handled the transfer. Are you now shocked that we've walked away?

He may have been able to screw £15m out of Liverpool for Joe Allen, but he's dealing with the big-boys now. If the MULTI-BILLIONAIRES Mansour & Khaldoon are happy with Marwood, then I'll back their judgement rather than the tantrum-throwing fuckwits on here - its not FIFA or Football Manager.

So Swansea try to screw us on the fee and we walk away - so what? We have 3 days to sign someone else, and if not I'm not really bothered. Now put yourself in Swansea's shoes - you've got a unhappy player till January at least and a bank account with £6.2m less than you thought it would have. And how much will he be worth in January with six months left on his contract?

I suggest that the Swansea chairman now wishes he'd kept his gob shut. I think the transfer will still go ahead, but it will be on our terms, not theirs.

Two words... stop flapping

I'm not flapping one bit. I don't expect Marwood to be able to sign anyone therefore I haven't got my hopes up like the rest of you. If he gets his P45 on 1 September when Soriano arrives then the club will be in a far stronger position in my view.

If you didint expect us to sign anyone why are you bothered about the departure of AJ making it harder to sign Sinclair.

And given Khaldoon had publicly praised the work Marwood has done does that mean you question his judgement.

I wouldn't have sold AJ in the first place. I thought he was a useful member of the squad. Must have missed Khaldoon praising Marwood and no, I wouldn't question his judgement but if Mancini says Marwood's job is to bring players then I would expect him to be able to add the 3 we need to make us better than we were last season. He hasn't done this.
