Just put it down to a lack of knowledge about football. I have neither the time or desire to do so myself, but if the spoiled brats amongst us look at past signings of the champions of respective leagues, i'm sure they will find players of Sinclair's ilk being added to those squads year in, year out. Like you say though, some people just aren't happy unless we are spunking money on players who might cut it, but who are a bigger name than Sinclair, joining from an established club or who they can brag to their United mates about having. The posts who questioned who Swansea think they are had me laughing. I mean for fck sake, anyone would think we are the size of Barca, Madrid, Bayern or United the way people have gone on in this thread.

The thing is if his name was sinclairio and had the same stats in La liga as he does in the premier league than the board would be cockahoop about it

That Song fella wasnt good enough for us a few weeks back and was half the player of De Jong - now he is a Barca player. Some people will not be happy until we signed Messi and Ronaldo

Nigel also has only a year on his contract, respected around Europe as one of the very best in his specialist position. And I bet we end up getting less for him than we shell out for Sinclair

Without being funny mate, only us blues see him as the best in his position. When you consider that he plays the same role as Alonso for example, or Busquets then you understand why he is down the list.
I said 'one of the best'. Others may have better passing, but the likes of Busquets and Alonso aren't in Nigel's league as a ball-winner or a 'pure' defensive DM shielding the back four. The fact he plays for City and Holland and is being fought over by AC and Inter Milan suggests he is one of the best players of his type in the world

It pains me to say this but for once in my life I agree with Pigeonho.

Alonso is the business but Busquets is massively overated, just a clogger.

Not a clogger, but I don't think Busquets is any better than De Jong. I was at the Nou Camp last year for a game and lots of criticism was directed at Busquets.

Pigeonho , people myself included might not actually rate Sinclair it is all about opinions, i think he is nothing special and i'd like to think watching football for 33 years, attending over 800 plus games that i do have some football knowledge, it has nothing to do with him being a big name it appears that his price is getting higher and closer to the Johnson fee than was first mooted and personally i don't think he is worth that. having said that i hope he proves me completely wrong and makes me look like a complete idiot

i'm not gonna slag the lad off as i think his hunger alone to prove himself is better than having a lazy Johnson but ^^^^ pants round our ankles me thinks

Agree with this 100%, the guy has made over 60 appearances for one of the best national teams in the world ffs. He would walk into Milan or Inters team.

Yep, bang on the money there my friend. Their lack of knowledge can't comprehend that with players of the class that we have, Sinclair will improve massively on the talent he already has. I am more than confident he will do a cracking job in the role he's given and in the games he's chosen for. A £6m+ squad player proven in the league? No risk whatsoever. Spunking £25m+ on someone unproven in the league but because he's come from la Liga or Serie 'A'? A gamble all day long. Ahem, Robinho. Ahem, Dzeko, (to an extent and for the fee). Ahem, Balotelli, (to an extent but he's wacky off the pitch so lets let him off). Ahem, Kolarov, (again, to an extent). All shit loads of money but none of whom have ripped up any trees. Sinclair for £6m who has obvious talent? Again, no risk whatsoever.

I blame all those football computer games. You know the ones, where you can just buy any player you want irrespective. I think as a result peoples vision of whats reality in club football transfers is diminished. Mainly a kids genre of game if i recall as well?
