Scottish flags at COMS...

I do agree with you when you stated that you were slightly naive in your original post. Not for the reasons you think though. The fact is, there ARE bigots who play the innocent, claiming that 'we're entitled to fly our own flag' under the guise that they are representing their support of City in their own country. There isnt a cats chance in hell that they will admit it though. That kind of passive aggression has served the bigots agenda for many years and their defence is as intransigent as it is depressing. To all but the bigots your observations are absolutely spot on and its interesting to see people making more out of what you posted than what you originally intended. Anyone reading the OP or indeed this one with a modicum of common sense will realise that it was directed towards the bigots and not towards those with no ulterior motives. I believe theres a fair contingency who 'doth protest too much' though.

Sorry but your post and subsequent explanation is poor,
People who have an agenda, small minority and if we dont understand you we are ignorant.
We all make mistakes.

I have supported CITY since I was a very young lad, not because of any Scottish connection at the time but because of Bell, Summerbee and Lee although we've had a lot of Scots at the club (some utter pish) over the years. I know a lot of City fans up here with not a hint of bigotry or anti Englishness about them.
I am not a religious bigot just because I am Scottish and having attended the pre season game at Celtic we were appalled when a few bigoted morons attempted to hi-jack the occasion with their vile filth. The same would've happened had the match been played at Rangers. In fact this happens whenever a high profile team plays one or other of the bigot brothers. The bigotry runs much deeper between these two than I could ever and would ever want to explain. Also over the years when Celtic had a connection with Liverpool, Rangers latched onto Everton. Rangers-Chelsea, Celtic-Arsenal, Celtic-Rags, Rangers-City. Do you get the picture?
On a lighter note, I pray that one day I will go to a major cup final in my City shirt and kilt, proudly unfurl my saltire along side my fellow blues flags from around the world, and celebrate a trophy win. I have been to Maine Road and now CoMS many times and met and made great friends. So please don't tar us all with the same brush.

Absolutely, the thrust of any thread on a subject such as this should be about the small minority of the people you describe who shamed us at Parkhead and would have done at Ibrox, not, the vast majority of decent, law abiding Scots.

i'm a born and bred manc , who avoid's any thing related to religion like the plague . i'm a city fanatic as much as the next city fanatic . my father's side of the family all come from the lanark/carstairs/forth/carluke area of lanarkshire . i'm very proud that i have scottish roots . there has been many a scot that i've converted to the blue cause over the last thirty odd years . this is one englishman who enjoys the sight of scottish flags at eastlands . i couldn't give a rats arse if it does offend anyone .
whenever i've been to games up there ( firs park , ibrox , station road , love street ) i've always been looked after . the same when i've had visitors from out of town and taken them to maine rd/eastlands .
basically , if you're a blue and from scotland or ireland , can you please leave your flags at home . infact don't bother coming at all .
is this what some 'blues' want ?

The thread shouldn't exist in the 1st place & the "shamed us at Parkhead"bit is well over the top.

No problem with Scottish, IrishTricolour's, Norway, Welsh...whatever...all City fans and they'll do for me.

None of the flags that I've seen recently (Scottish & Irish) had anything to do with religion...jusy decent City fans mate.

The big reason for the Irish flag is because of Stevie. Didnt see any tricolours before this for a while but I have seen an NI flag with a Rangers logo on it which confused me..
