Scottish flags at COMS...

I have supported CITY since I was a very young lad, not because of any Scottish connection at the time but because of Bell, Summerbee and Lee although we've had a lot of Scots at the club (some utter pish) over the years. I know a lot of City fans up here with not a hint of bigotry or anti Englishness about them.
I am not a religious bigot just because I am Scottish and having attended the pre season game at Celtic we were appalled when a few bigoted morons attempted to hi-jack the occasion with their vile filth. The same would've happened had the match been played at Rangers. In fact this happens whenever a high profile team plays one or other of the bigot brothers. The bigotry runs much deeper between these two than I could ever and would ever want to explain. Also over the years when Celtic had a connection with Liverpool, Rangers latched onto Everton. Rangers-Chelsea, Celtic-Arsenal, Celtic-Rags, Rangers-City. Do you get the picture?
On a lighter note, I pray that one day I will go to a major cup final in my City shirt and kilt, proudly unfurl my saltire along side my fellow blues flags from around the world, and celebrate a trophy win. I have been to Maine Road and now CoMS many times and met and made great friends. So please don't tar us all with the same brush.

This is spot on, bring the flags but leave the agenda behind. The more flags the better.

Hi Waterfoot blue
my mate lives in Waterfoot, Craighlaw ave, do you know it?

I was at the Celtic match and when I got in the atmoshere between the two sets of fans was friendly and there was good banter between the fans. Now I am a Manc who lives in Glasgow and my wife is a Glaswegian.

Three guys turned up and unfurled the Glasgow Man City Saltire. I thought this was amazing and joined in with them holding the flag. It soon became apparrent though that these guys had an agenda and it was more to do with hatred towards the Celtic, Catholics and the Irish and some of the sectarian abuse they were singing and trying to get others to join in with was a disgrace.

I loved the Glasgow Man City flag but not the biggots who own that flag. They are a cancer in Scottish football and their extreme views are not welcome at our fantastic football club.

My only team is Man City and I dont bother with Celtic or Rangers and I have no agenda.

The more flags at COMS the better, just leave all the sectarian behaviour behind.

I have made contact with a few blues while I have been up here and some of them are trying to get a Man City supporters club up and running (no supporters club in Glasgow) to cover the West Coast.

Hi mate, were you the guy standing behind me at the game with the half & half City/Celtic scarf?

If so, and you felt I was out of order, why not say instaed of having a laugh with me about the fact that you had that and I had my half & half City/Rangers scarf.

As for being bigots and tring to get people to join in with the biggoted songs, I think you are mistaken.

Did I join in with "No Surrender to the IRA" yes and I don't think this is in anyway bigotted, did I try to get people to join in - no.
Did I join in with the famine song, no - but I did laugh and explain it to my cousin's wife who was standing next to me.
Did I join in with "follow, follow", "the sash" or "build my gallows" - possibly once in the first 10 minutes but I'm not sure, did I encourage others to join in - no.

After the first 10 minutes, I turned to the guy behind me (you?) and said that I wish the group of about 10-20 guys over towards the main stand would give it a rest with the Rangers/Loyalist songs as there was no need for it.

If it was you, I hope you can think again about this shite you posted

If not, then you are just way wrong in your assessment of that night, from the statement there were 3 people with the flag, right through to what you accused they supposed 3 people of.

No it wasn't me with the celtic/city scarf and I wasn't stood behind the people I mentioned. I was stood right next to them. 3 guys and a woman. One of the guys was so pissed he could hardly stand and there was a young lad in front with his mum whom the pisshead was boring to death about how the celtic fans were not Scottish and had no right to be living here. One of the guys (bald head and glasses) tried to "hug" me when Petrov scored and I pushed him away. They were all singing the songs you mentioned. I take you were not part of this group, I was sober and know what went on that night. As for talking shite...........

Look mate, I've said what I did that night, yes one of the group was pissed & actually stood in the row in front for most of the game. The guy you describe, I was a couple of seats away from, so cannot say for certain, but I would have been very surprised at him singing these songs especially standing next to his wife.

I was part of this group of 4, I'm the owner of the flag and I'm the one that was at the Wigan game on Saturday. I'm also the one who lent forward & told my mate to give it rest with the no right to be living here crap (from where you describe you were sitting, I must have lent right in front of you to do it) - it wasn't the place for it no matter your views.

As for my Scotland flag & taking it to games, this will continue. If I now get a crack for being labelled a bigot then I'll know who to thank.

Cheers

Sounds like a fun day out. Personally i'll never step foot in Ibrox or Parkhead ever again, no matter who is playing there or how important the match is. Can't wait for the day the OF bugger off to some European elite league or whatever, because right now they are like a parasite, they need the rest of the teams to survive, but suck all the life out of the league, whilst simultaneously complaining about the lack of competition. Hypocritical wankstains, no wonder non-OF fans have become totally disillusioned with our farce of a competition, nothings going to change whilst anyone who has any power in Scottish football is a self-serving, OF supporting muppet. English people complain about top 4 bias, you should try supporting a non-OF team up here.

I can understand your point mate, but wouldn't say that I won't set foot in Ibrox or Parkhead again.

I used to follow Rangers everywhere during 9-in a row, but gave up my seson ticket in 98-99 season as I couldn't afford both that and my France 98 Scotland vs Brazil trip. My decision was based purely on the fact that I wasn't enjoying going to games bar maybe 6/8 a season (and this decision was made when it looked a stick on that Rangers would get 10 in a row) it is for this reason that I now more actively follow City.

I am now, without a doubt City first and the only Rangers games I go to are the OF games at Parkhead, or frrbie hospitality tickets, and beleive me, I got far more enjoyment at the Old Trafford last year, than I did at the 2-4 OF game at Parkhead

Yeah, i think the ill-feeling against them has multiplied within the last 5 years. At least when Rangers had the likes of Laudrup, Gazza, Albertz they were actually decent to watch. But now all the Old Firm do is hoover up any player with the slightest bit of talent from other SPL clubs for pittance (because they players themselves are 'Celtic-minded' or something and force the move) then, let them rot in the reserves or sell them on for a profit. The football they play is dire, the players are all cheating, arrogant wankers, the managers are moaning twats, the refs are biased, whether consciously or sub-consciously, in any SPL coverage 90% devoted to Old Firm, there's at least 3 derbies a year, usually more, yet it's still a special event with all the pundits and journos wanking themselves silly over the 'special atmosphere'.

I'm a St Mirren fan, yet realistically, what can we achieve? Massive celebrations if we manage to scramble ourselves into the top half of the league, yay. Our budget is less than an average league 2 club in England, we've had to sell our stadium (for the last 100 years) to fucking Tesco, who are going to demolish it and do fuck all with the site, for the sake of a couple of 100k the bank wanted back, and replaced it with a mechano kit, characterless box. The second we manage to unearth a player actually worth paying money to watch, the OF/some average Champioship/League 1 side come sniffing around and he's off like a shot, probably the same will happen with Managers, but we haven't really had a chance to test that one out recently, although Gus is doing well for what he's got to work with. Perhaps this season we'll finish 9th instead of 10th, at least we're debt free now, don't have the bailiffs looking over our shoulder eagerly.

I agree with all that, but will say that Rangers are still my "second team", if that's possible, as I still look out for there results, want them to win the league etc, however if it was Rangers or City, then there is only one team for me & they play in Blue.

Sky Blue of course ;)
