Scottish Independence

Scotland have become the neglected little brother of the constitutional settlement and are subjected to the whims of the English majority

I always find your posts interesting Rascal, but I think you are a way off the mark with this one.

How in fact are Scotland neglected and subject to the whims of the English when they get the following beenfits circa 20% more spent per person via the block grant than those people in England. When they get their own parliment. The ability to enact their own legislation. They can still vote on English only matters but the English MPs cannot vote on Scottish matters. They are over represented by MPs in parliment compared to their population.

I am sorry but if anything it is the English especially those in the north that are subject to Scottish whims and are neglected.

While they are part of the UK they should get the same money per person as the get of the UK.

Can we stay in the EU then?

Think it’s inevitable, sadly.
Not inevitable mate, not that we are feeling much love from our neighbours on here ;-)

The Scottish populace will have a more open mind to it than last time for sure and if you put in place another Tory Government that certainly will be a further push for independence. However, the same issues that exist for Brexit exist for independence + some others. Currency, a central Bank, a deal with England etc etc etc. Naively I hope than my fellow scots demand answers to these questions prior to the vote rather than as afterthought. A great deal depends on how the next year pans out and the level of toxicity that emanates from Westminster.

We = Scotland.
If we are not subject to the whims of the English, can we stay in the EU? Its what we voted for.

Can't see how Europe could refuse if you apply. By norm any new nation that typicly would join would have some process to go trough so that all rules and regulations comply with that of the Eu but obviously that should be no issue for the Scotland. Ofcourse Scotland would have to set up a border with England and that might prove more tricky than people think. There isn't a languaghe border and i'm not sure what documentation would specificy the border that otherwise would have existed...

Yes, I’m sure it will be. Which is why I don’t believe independence is inevitable.
