Scottish Independence

They go, they go. They don't, they don't. Really not concerned.

Personally, if I were a Scottish citizen who voted to remain in the UK and leave the EU, i'd want to know what relationship/deal the UK would have with the EU before being asked if I wanted to leave the UK Union as well.

I think the rest of us in the UK would have loved to answer to that question prior to exiting the EU.

We need to know preciesly what a UK, Independent from the EU, will look like before forcing the Scottish public to decide.

Wasn’t that up to the Leave campaign to tell us in the EU referendum campaign?
Why would anyone vote for a leap into the unknown?
Erm....

No, it wasn't. It was an informative campaign, not the basis of the vote. You could vote leave and not take on board any message from the leave campaign and your vote would still be valid. Fuck it's like 2016 again!

We're also beginning negotiating said leap.

And therein lies the constitutional conundrum of the precious union of equals.

I'm not trying to be wide. I do know what you mean. But fuck me if the EU were to say they wouldnt accept the UK asking that question, to leave the union, we'd all be (myself included) in arms. And you can bet it would feed the desire to leave, even amongst some that might not particularly want it.

I understand that but it’s what Scotland signed up to.

My whole thing with this is that the IndyRef view is one in several centuries. Whilst I agree with the right to determination and democracy I don’t agree with it every 6 years. Doing so would ruin any structure in the world if everyone did it.

I also don’t agree leaving a trading bloc is enough to completely change the country.

There are remain voters on here who look upon Brexit voters as utter fools... well I look at Scottish independence supporters as far far worse.

David Cameron claimed that the only way to protect Scotland’s EU membership was to reject independence. No campaign spokespeople parroted the phrase “EU membership only guaranteed with a No vote”. A great many Scots voted on that basis. I was one of them. Just another broken promise.

There is a mile of difference between being a leading member of the EU with a massive influence on strategy and policy and having no influence in Westminster because we have 10 % voice. No sovereignty, no voice, just do as we are told by MPs of a party we have very little affinity with and don’t trust. Yes we must be morons to find that difficult to swallow.

You do realise a vote for independence is a vote to be in neither the UK nor EU?

Nice deflection. I don’t know that and you certainly don’t.

It clearly isn’t deflection, it’s directly in reference to your post.

I do know that. Scotland isn’t currently meeting the criteria to join the EU, it won’t do once it’s alone.

The Spanish will not allow it as it paves the way for an independent Catalonia, which is only slightly more ridiculous than Scottish independence.

How can you be so for Brexit but so for this? Are you for independence?
