Scottish Independence

You want another referendum, clearly.

Answer the question, how many times does Scotland have to vote before Nicola accepts it?
At least one more, but that's up to Scotlands voters to decide, shouldn't be down to Boris. If Scottish voters back her in 2021, then let's see.

Scottish independence should be a UK wide vote as it will effect the whole of the UK.

Its probably Nicolas best bet as well.

So I clearly believe that the Scottish people have a right to say they want/do not want to be in the UK. The frequency is dependent on circumstance and circumstances have materially changed since the last one. If we voted no again fair enough but then if westminster move the goalposts materially and there is clearly a demand then have another.

Why, should brexit have been a whole EU vote ?

No.

It was a decision effecting all UK citizens and made by UK citizens. Very much a sovereign decision alone as its just a trade club yeah?

Besides.....the EU dont really vote, their presidents decide whats happening after a gentle prod from their German and French masters.

I just disagree but that’s fine. If it’s only 51% yes on the eve of Brexit then it’s not a good sign for the independence movement.

Most don’t want a referendum soon and whilst the SNP will make a lot of noise still, I can see their support dropping.

The polls do fluctuate a lot. It’s gone from 56% yes, to 45% yes, to now 51% yes.

fair enough. Just fyi, ive not based anything ive said on polls, but other than that, yeah, time will tell (and not in a 'we will see' kinda way).

Scottish voters backed get her in 2016, on the pledge that they would hold another referendum should Brexit materially change Scotland's position. As did her parliament. Saying no, then saying no again post 2021 should that support be retained, will only feed the narrative. And make things constitutionally messy potentially. In some ways the snp are part-selfishly focussing on securing 5 more years in 2021, and part buying time, otherwise, it'd already be getting messy. One thing i do fully support her in, is refusing to even contemplate a non Westminster backed referendum.
