Season ticket news?

I can see your point here but I think you have missed essential point which you allude to at the end, it does appear that these "gold memberships" are only being offered to those fans with substantial number of loyalty points.

These fans must have attended the majority of away, cup and european games to have reached those levels, therefore they are likely to want to use their away tickets to the likes of Wigan and not pick and choose.

I agree, so why put a premium on those fans who want and do attend every game? They don't seem to get too much of an advantage (will the chance to fly with the players really be worth the extra cash?)

eligibility scheme? ie. you have to go to 90% of the possible number of games you can attend(depending on loyalty points/ticket allocations etc.), so if a Gold Member is too choosy they lose the right to renew the following season and those on lower brackets if they've gone to as many games as possible get the opportunity to go?

Though I think the club will just take the money and not give a shit if the seat is used or not.
Possibly.

And if you didn't take it up youcouldn't renew next season, but if you we're still in the top X% the season after, you'd be invited again.

Be intersting to see how they do the loyalty points for this too. ST's don't get additional points for being a st holder, they just get the home games all upfront (190) You couldn't do the same with this if there's was any kind of returns policy, unless when you sold your ticket back to the club, your points were deducted also.

And given these are being offered by invitation to those with the most points, i'm not sure how you could throw the loyalty argument in. By definition they are loyal.

We're presuming it is, and we already know OSC's use high loyalty point members to gain an allocation for the branch to pass on to another member if the original doesn't fancy going... thus keeping their points up.

All i'm saying is, there's a chance here for people to get themselves into a special club and then begin picking and choosing which games they'll attend whilst keeping the privilege of being given the chance to attend every game.

As some of the cup schemers said...'it's all about money up front'.

Just like a 'real' business then?

Look at the business model here. If I had 3,000 home seats a week to fill/sell and had the chance to sell them all before the season starts - then I would (I'd be mad not to). My target has been met and the club (board) is happy. Now why should I care whether you turn up or not? 3,000 empty seats means nothing to me as a business man - I've already sold them and got my percentage!

Not nice for supporters - but business rarely is.

Hardly a sustainable and long term model.

My 2nd tier customers get fed up of being shafted, and move on, my current customer base will fluctuate and i won't have the demand outweighing supply, over the long term the numbers drop.

Although this is all assumption, i'm sure ther'll be long debate on here tomorrow; if this Black Card is for the top X% of loyalty point holders, it kind of seems a bit pointless as its giving the supports already guarenteed a ticket confirmation of what they already have - at an inflated price.

If it's like an away game and there's a limited number to sell which will go on sale based on loyalty points over a number of days, then it's giving the people with money the chance to jump ahead of those with loyalty... which probably wouldn't be right.

That's marketing for you. Give the package a fancy name, make it invitation only, throw in a few perks (flights with the team etc) and then profit. Members won't look at the pricing breakdown as they're happy to be in the club. Those on the 2nd tier will look on and aspire to be members. Same goes for those who have boxes. Aren't worth it if you look at what you get, but its seen as a luxury and those that can afford them and willing to pay the price aren't in short supply.

As far as long term goes, it depends on success. Arsenal are hardly struggling to fill their ground despite the enormous increases in prices. They regularly host CL football and challenge for trophies, so those tickets will always be snapped up.

Re: Superbia - Membership 2011/12

our household has 2 invites, won't even entertain it, 5000 quid, where the fuck would i get that kind of cash in one hit.

i notice you get 2000 loyalty points aswell, sadly money is going to talk.

quite sad really, all the money from the cup runs, champions league next season, stadium naming rights at 10 million a season.

i hope the club doesnt forget the lengths we go to, to get to matches, we cannot all be rich, but we love the club just the same.

Re: Superbia - Membership 2011/12

GStar - I think that demand will outstrip supply unfortunately. Especially if people can 'sell on' their tickets (like we know will happen).

Also, by selling on those tickets - the 'card' owners get the loyalty points and get offered the same thing next season.

It's a shame - but it is a great money making scheme not only for the club - but also for the elite few that get these cards.

If I was a mercenary, I'd jump at the chance of getting one of these - and sell all but a few tickets on. I bet I could make a tidy profit from ripping off fellow blues (especially if I was a corporate and not really bothered about it) and still watch any game that I wanted to go to.

There's a fair few empty seats at Arsenal when ever we've gone there, plus they've only been there a few seasons, we were selling CoMS out the first few seasons with our team nowhere near what Arsenal or we are now.

We've already had a guy in here on 8440 points, who's been invited to join, immediately questioning the validity of him joining. If there's no advantage, why would he pay the extra money? It is possible to position a brand in such a way that people will pay a premium (think Apple) but i can't see that working with football. Especially when if you're affluent and want to enjoy the more expensive football package you're labelled a plastic, a corporate or a prawn sandwich eater.

It's not something to aspire to in particular, in the way traditional marketing can draw you in.

Money upfront for games in a half empty stadium i.e showing loyalty in games where many did not... i can see why the club would want to reward that. Already having 7-8k points and now being asked to pay more money upfront on the off chance we make the final of every competition every season, isn't quite the same. (if that's what it is).

-- 15 May 2011, 15:42 --

Wow, you could join it for one season, drop back into a 'normal' ST style membership and be at the top of the pile for years to come.

I definitely don't agree with being given Loyalty points for money.

Don't know about the other levels, it just makes it sound like this is the top level (for our most loyal supporters, it says) so maybe there will be other levels.

It has arrived on posh card all laminated with a letter from Garry Cook.

It says :
'You have been chosen, you are superbia, there is no higher etc.....for our ultimate supporters, our ultimate membership.......the priviledges of membership don't come any higher than this'

Can't see that many going for this at £2500 as it will obviously depend how far we get in competitions what value you get for this, I'm going to ring tomorrow to ask lots of questions!!

Available to purchase from 9am on Monday 23rd May.

is the card black?

It certainly is

Re: Superbia - Membership 2011/12

this is exceptable as long as they sell maybe 100 of these superdooper ones and then keep it on loyalty points for everyone else. if they go to a tierd system where the richer you are the more chance of tickets you get is a massive let down.

Re: Superbia - Membership 2011/12

My dad got one of these to. I think it will be for anyone over 7000 points as he has got just over 7000. He doesnt really have the cash to find 2500 out of the blue and would probably prefer to wait until i can get a ticket so we can stand together. I really hope the club dont start doing a 'money over loyalty' thing now we are becoming successful.

Interesting, my mate has over 7K, about 7300 and he's not got one, not yet anyway.
