Season ticket payments - refunds/credits due by June 19th

I know you can say it's ok for those who can afford it to pay upfront, but the contract was to buy a seasoncard and Direct Debit is just the method of collecting the money due before the season started. So someone who paid upfront and has since lost job or business doesn't have the choice to miss a payment.

I can't see anything on the website about what is in the actual contract but I bet there is nothing about the season being curtailed -so if the season were made void you've paid for 19 PL matches that weren't PL matches.

I suppose it's worth retelling the story of the Newcastle fan who wondered why no-one ever had the seat next to him. Then this bloke turns up on Boxing Day to say his wife had bought him a season ticket as a Christmas present.

For those that cancelled their direct debit and had their seasoncard cancelled, I presume that means they won't be eligible for a refund for the remaining games.

By cancelling, it means you give up a 31% refund by not paying the final 10%.

Not ideal but if needs must, it may be the only option some have.

Has any other club started to give refunds for season tickets yet?

I think there will be a standard approach from teams once it's confirmed when matches will start again and that they will be behind closed doors.

It's not ideal but I'm not sure what else they can do to make it a fair playing field for those who did pay upfront

I would imagine they will offer a refund or reduction on 2020/21 season. That way, if you need the cash, you get it and if you don't you benefit from cheaper monthly payments next season.

I agree. Clubs will be worried about people not being able to afford to go, and probably more importantly, those who have been going out of habit for years finding out they are not actually missing it (heard so many people from many different clubs saying this) and giving it up.

The last point you make will be interesting because it is a bit of a habit to many.

Good job it was authorised then.
