Season ticket payments - refunds/credits due by June 19th

Rugby League Clubs got an emergency loan from the Government and their finances are probably similar to lower league football clubs.

Possibly. I guess football on the whole is a more costly business as wages are likely to be bigger but you may be right. Not so easy to bail out the likes of Sunderland or Portsmouth though who still get big crowds.

The game was on its arse financially before all this, not a multi-billion industry in this country that could solve its own problems if needed from reserves.

exactly. Crowds will be very different if we are ever allowed back

older people
People with health issues
People with financial worries
Tourists unable to travel/ effected

Liverpool and united could be massively effected by this, with huge amounts of overseas visitors
i am in the extremely vulnerable bracket. the risk is huge.

would it stop me before VAR? not a fucking chance.

I was comparing with lower division football clubs, several of whom are also on their arses.

The RFL got the loan which is sane as the FA, it was for the entire sport, which only has a handful of professional clubs, and the loan was peanuts.

I was on about the sport as a whole - the FA has cash reserves, the premier league is cash rich, and it should not need Government intervention if these two organisatons help out a tiny bit.

The clubs cutting player wages or furloughing staff should not be allowed to sign players on the back of these savings, but some will with Arsenal lining up several new signings.

I agree with you that football shouldn’t need the Government’s intervention and Clubs who furloughed staff should be prevented from buying new players

Prob a refund of over £10m and if behind closed doors next season a loss in match day revenue of £50m plus ? Prob a lot more than that. That is a big hit. How will lower league clubs survive without fans. Government bail out?

This depends

If games are played behind closed doors next season and they create a virtual season ticket then clubs could still make money.

I could buy a season ticket for all 38 league games City play.

The price will be interesting

I would suggest we really don't want to go along the path of TV season tickets, imagine how much United and Liverpool could make in such circumstances, unless all the money went into the PL pot and was distributed fairly.

I'm confident my IPTV man will come through so I'll take a hit on my points.
