Thanks. I understand now.
What's really disappointing from reading here is that if the club had a sensible approach to this, there would be a perfectly workable solution using flexi-season tickets. All of the people (and there's a lot more than I thought there would be) saying they can't attend 10 matches easily due to distance travelled, work & family commitments etc should move onto a flexi-ticket that allows them to miss games without incurring cost or risk leaving an empty seat. That would free up seats for locals or whoever to attend. Season tickets are therefore on offer to those who are fortunate enough to be able to attend pretty much every home game.
But for that to happen, there would need to be an easy fliexible route to swap flexi tickets for full season tickets, a sensible pricing structure for the flexi ticket itself (not £150) , and the add-on prices for the games that are attended need to be sensible as well. Something the club aren't appraently willing to do.
And from the fans side, assuming the flexi ticket could be swapped to/from a full ST every season, there would be a willingness to pick the flexi ticket if it suited their circumstances - like the clear many hundreds of ST holders that have recently posted about being unable to even reach 10 games personally.
I'm sure the club's issue with ST holders not attending is that they offer a discounted price for bulk buying, and, instead of attending, people give the seat away for a reduced cost to mates. A bit like buying a chicken at a supermarket on a buy one get one free deal, and then standing at the entrance selling the other one. Clearly, that's not what most do, but from the club's view it is...
A sensible pricing structure and flexible swapping each season of season tickets and flexi-tickets, together with a proper structured friends and family scheme could have and should have avoided all this...
