Seasoncard ban due to finishing drink at seat

You appear to miss the point that he says the T&C's say 'if convicted', which he wasn't.

The T's & C's don't say "if convicted", the actually Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985 says "if convicted" a ban may be placed. That would be a legal ban, imposed on a supporter by the courts, in the same way hooligans have nationwide stadium bans imposed. A ban issued by Manchester City FC is a different matter entirely, and would not need to be predicated upon a court issued conviction.

Smoking in Stadium
Drinking Alcohol whilst at a seat in view of the pitch
Persistent Standing after being warned
Swearing (Actually just shouting C**t) continuously
Fighting

Can and probably will all lead to a ban so why are some on here not bright enough to understand that

If you have broken any of the above 5 and are surprised why you have had your SC taken anyway take a bow because you have joined the *BMTC Group

The Season Card T&C's don't mention murder, assault and exposing yourself but you'd expect to be banned for committing any of those inside the ground. They do make it clear you have to abide by various regulations, which you didn't do. I think most courts would take the view that the law of the land holds sway inside a football stadium, particularly those parts of it that specifically apply to football stadia. The law against drinking in view of the pitch is utterly ludicrous and potentially criminalises people like yourself but it is the law and if you're a regular attender you should be well aware of that.

Is this an actual law and is solely for football?

If so isn't this some sort of discrimination?

Surely if i can see a concert, watch a game of Rugby etc... with a drink in hand in the same seat i'd like to watch City yet they refuse it is in some way discriminatory?

Could this actually be challenged in a court of law?

As usual the football fan is treated like a second class citizen yet we take it without a fight.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Such ridiculous nonsense that goes on at modern football stadiums. It's like living under a communist regime. Everybody is supposed to act like robots and do as they are told. If people don't push back soon, they will be refusing you access for not wearing at least 2 items of club merchandise, or for excessive clapping.

They should be kissing your backsides for purchasing a season card and buying their beer, but they don't. They treat everybody like criminals.

Its a really strange law. I was in a box once about an hour AFTER the final whistle, had a drink in my hand but took one step out to the seated bit and before my foot had even touched the floor a steward was ushering me back inside.

Had similar. We couldn't drink in full view of the glass window (Looking out onto the pitch). Must be because we were "In view of the pitch" as stated above.

Shame for the lad banned, but this rule/law has been about for some time now, so not like it's been dropped out of nowhere.

You'll have to accept the ban and be grateful the police are not taking it further. It's the law and there's no getting out of it. You could however try and do us all a favour and tell City about the state of the queues at halftime. If you tell them you took it back to your seat because you spent the entire half time queueing for it you may be able to have some impact on City actually doing something about the whole horrible halftime beer situation.
