Sebastián Coates

The combination of Rekik training with the first team today and Mancini being told no to adding Coates seems kinda interesting.

Oh well...

Roberto Mancini's hopes of signing Uruguay centre-back Sebastian Coates before the end of the transfer window have been dashed after he was told spending will end with a £25million deal for Arsenal’s Samir Nasri.

Although Mancini has targeted Coates, 20, from Nacional as a replacement for Nedum Onuoha, he has accepted that City are unlikely to do any more business this summer following talks with chief executive Garry Cook and football administrator Brian Marwood.

If Onuoha is off and Boyata going out on loan, it leaves only Kompany/Lescott/Savic (Wabara not really ready for many games and is injured anyway) before Kolo returns as proper CBs so this could be on if the funds have been found (Weiss + SWP + Onuoha money?).

BTW, Sunday Mirror and Sky Italia (former probably borrowing from the latter) say we're the favourites to sign him for £12 million.

Have we actually heard anything about Boyata going on loan though? And I think Kolo is back one day after the window shuts (though obviously not match-fit right away).

Bolton close to signing Boyata on loan after tomorrow's game according to Sunday Mirror also. Think we will loan him for sure whether it is to Bolton or somewhere else, he needs match time.
