He hasn't turned us down because we haven't made a bid. Nacional want us too badly knowing we'd outbid the rest but we haven't. He is using the faux rejection of us to endear himself to Liverpool fans, just like players do when they join every club.

If we'd made a concrete bid when we trailed him (which, btw, we did before Liverpool) he'd have joined our club.

Suarez-factor was clearly massive in this. They're mates and from the same club. Reckon he'd have picked Liverpool regardless of City's bid for that reason alone.

Not everyone wants to sign for City above all else believe it or not.

City still don't have anywhere near the global recognition that the other top teams have as well. Which is especially important to players coming from far away areas.

AKA no history, right?

Unfortunately the majority of "football fans" don't know history. They are told what to think.

I happened to turn on the TV last week in the middle of a Uraguayan match between Nacional and someone else at the exact minute that somebody called Kowattez headed the ball into his own goal.

The announcer said that it was one hell of a battle all match between this Kowattez and some other guy, and that the other guy had clearly won the battle, which wasn't a surprise since Kowattez was so young.

It was only later that I realized that it was Overcoates he was talking about!

And going by that few minutes, I don't think that this young man is the finished product, by any means.

Smacks of someone with no genuine ambition and a desire to want to be with his mates.

And this post smacks of someone who has no idea what they're talking about.

Moving half way around the world from his hometown club at the age of 20 to one of the biggest clubs in the world = no ambition?

Not sure about that.

If anything turning down the potential of mega-money at City (if he did that is, which i'm not sure) to play more regularly is to be admired.

He wouldn't be on mega-money, City do not have to pay over the odds to be a more attractive proposition than Liverpool any more, that's the reality. This is clearly an exceptional situation because Liverpool have Suarez (though frankly the whole discussion is moot because we don't know that City even bid).

believe it or not 5-10 years ago there weren't loads of kids running around South America with Goater or Dickov on the back of their shirts. There were with Owen/Beckham/Henry

Believe it or not as much as youd like it to be true no one but you cares about liverpools historys players of quality dont care about liverpools history or tradition which is why you're not in for big name players because as much as you continue to tell yourself its important and it means something it just doesnt.

Moving halfway round the world to yes one of biggest clubs in the world doesnt show ambition at all. Trying to fight your way into a quality side shows ambition, going to somewhere where you're guaranteed a spot doesnt show ambition. As much as you dont like it or dont want it to be true at present we are a better proposition than liverpool, the fact that you have a history of being a big club counts for nothing at this present time because we can offer more than you can.

I don't know why this is hard to understand :) Only fans care about history. Players care about now. Who has quality? Who can pay well? Who is hot? That is where the players want to be. There is a reason why no big player is pining for Leeds, or Blackburn.

just about every player worth a damn now (aka the real young ones with potential and their best years ahead of them) haven't been alive last time Liverpool won the title, or if they were they were very young.

any player that has offers from us and Liverpool are going to choose us. Better facilities, better pay, bigger ambition. Their only magical Anfield nights now only come Carling Cup round 2 v Exeter.
