The real question of coruse is whether, if we beat the rags in the semi, Oasis can be persuaded to reform to do a cup-final song.

'Robi's going to wembley, his knees have gone all trembly'.

That kind of thing.

;-)

What about a rock n roll version of "The Boys in Blue"?

Noel and Liam on harmonies... Billy Duffy and Johnny Marr on guitars... Mike Pickering on keyboards... Doves as the rythm section... with Eddie Large on lead vocals!

Job's a good 'un!

So tell me why that logic is obvious?

Not asking you to agree with it... just telling you how it is and why it's right... They pay their money upfront.. the club regards this as a special loyalty for the reasons I gave above... When you've had your season card for a long time, you will feel the same.

me personally I've had mine for a long time, I'm in the cup direct scheme.. been to every game (inc Pompey on a sunday lunch KO) except Wigan, Brum & Anfield... As I have to go to China with my job..
Yes but im still struggling to see why it's right. It should quite simply go off the number of games you have attended.

No one is doubting your support, and quite obviously you are deserving of a ticket. But why is it right using the scenario I have provided.

Whether seasoncard or citycard the ones who attend most games deserve the tickets. Ive been going 25 years, but clearly to you, a fan who started going this year and bought a seasoncard is more deserving of a ticket.

Thats the attitude of a club not a million miles down the road
It does for away games... thats the loyalty points.
For home games, a season card holder pays for 'HIS/HER' seat for a season...

MUFC used to do a 'LMTB' (League match s/t).. and a full season ticket. Very different from what we do.
We only have a season ticket/card which is a hybrid of the two examples above... and if somebody buys a season card, then they have bought the right to that seat for every league game, plus the right to reserve their seat for any other games. Loyalty points doesn't come into it for HOME games, unless you are a non season card holder..

If you start eroding the benefits of the seasoncard such us automatic allocation for cup games, you could be left with a situation where it is not beneficial to have a seasoncard and instead of it being an unattractive cup game with only 20 odd thousand, it could be a less attractive league game that has the same crowd. Remember it was not so long ago when the Seasoncard holders were taking up the slack for the empty upper tiers the city and access card holders couldn't be bothered filling for the less attractive league games. All seasoncard holders know and accept the risk in advance that the season may not pan out how they would like as do city card holders when they choose not to have a seasoncard and games like these come up.

the benefits of being a member of the club (a seasoncard holders club) are well publicised, and well known in advance by over 30,000 people who decide to join / renew their cards every year.

If you are envious of the benefits of joining said club, might i suggest however difficult financially, you do your utmost to join, and then you too can start to enjoy the same benefits?

Alternatively you can lobby MCFC, and attempt to get rules / benefits ammended, although i suspect over 30, 000 people would not agree with such attempts.

I'll think about that - a cup direct scheme open to all (even kids/access card members). The club like guarantees and there may not be huge numbers who would sign up, but it would make things a little fairer, and encourage new fans.

The disappointing thing for me is that for the last few C/Cup games I've been surrounded by plenty of kids, many of whom were genuinely thrilled and who were often generating much more atmosphere than the adults. Many would have got excited by the draw for the Semi and were a bit surprised when their parents told them they probably can't go.

I can't wait to be watching the game surrounded by all those grumpy S/T holders moaning that they "don't get out of bed for Scunthorpe".

As for those 30,000 waiting to disagree - many of them were at the early C/Cup matches so will probably feel quite smug if you don't get a ticket ;)

Have to say, I'm a season ticket holder and I've to to every home round of the cup so far.
I'm just crossing my fingers for a ticket for the second leg ;-)

No problem with a cup direct scheme open to all, as long as it doesnt affect seasoncard holders right to purchase their seat (if they wish to). In other words, as for games like this upcoming semi, pecking order would be........ seasoncard holders, non seasoncard cup direct, City card holders on points, open sale.

In truth, if the club in their infinite wisdom, and faced with non stop never-ending cup success, decided to make cup tickets compulsory (like rags) would (reluctantly) go along with it, as potential benefits greatly exceed costs, however, in truth, for reasons explained earlier, even if i had effectively been forced to pay for it, highly unlikely i`d make it to early cup rounds, just not practical

I would assume that there could be a limit so it didn't affect the ST holders - however if it did then someone might suggest that you knew at the start of the season what the situation was and could have attended to make sure you got tickets for more glam ties.

If this came into play I'd hope it was linked to actually attending (not just paying for a ticket you didn't use) to avoid the embarrassing situation we were told about at Old Trafford, with thousands of empty but paid for seats.

I said before I can understand that this is our first semi for some time so long time fans deserve to attend, but if we are getting to semis and finals every season (and selling out more with increased success), then I think it's only fair to reward those who commit to going to the more 'unglamorous' ties on cold Autumn nights. I'd imagine the club want to build support rather than take advantage of newer fans.

Most commas used in a sentence, ever.

New fans or not, i pay for my season ticket and that seat. I have sat their for years, if it comes to a cup game i should have the first option to sit in that seat. Why should anyone have priority over me or any other seasonticket holder in that situation.
