Phil is the odd one out so consequently gets shifted.A bit like the way the technically superior Scholes got fucked around to accommodate Lampard and Gerrard back in the day.

If Phil wants to stay in the team he's got to overcome the drawbacks of playing where he is.

Even Pep plays Foden from left wing. I have no issue with Southgate doing the same, as the idea is he drifts into the centre like with us. But England struggle to get any form of control to allow Foden to get into those positions. That’s the crux of the issue and why we won’t come close to winning this tournament.

Cos pep knows how to coach patterns of play and will have his left back wide and high so foden can drift in and creat overloads.

Southgate will have his left back on the half way line so foden will be on his own on the touchline
