Sergio Aguero - 2016/17 performances

I got the impression he wasn't arsed tonight.
I'd disagree, he almost tried to hard to impress & do what Pep wants I thought - he was through on goal, with a tight angle, where he'd usually shoot 100% of the time, he dinked a (poor) cross instead; think he was trying to show he's a team player but unfortunately didn't come off. Then we just passed it around the rest of the match, and Silva misplaced a simple pass to him to ruin another of his chances.

Ball seems to be in his court now though, we've got the players who can do what Pep wants; doesn't have many options other than join the cause & work harder to keep his place, or roll over & ask to leave. Obviously the former would be perfect, a fired up motivated Aguero would be fantastic to have firing for us again.

He is capable of that and isn't as greedy to the detriment of the side as some people allude to.

Goal assists are not his strong point though.

His passing isnt on the same level either mate.

Im not writing the man off because it would be ridiculous to do so but that front 3 tonight is not only the future, its the here and now and Kun has a fight on his hands.

Think Segio will show his value in the home games where there's a lot less grass to run into.

I know we have a shiny new player but anyone turning on sergio needs to give their head a wobble

Same as those whinging about Navas tonight.

Might as well have a whinge about VK as well.

As Pep has said many time he doesn't like to eave three off the bus each game but at least we have ( Gungy aside ) a full side to choose from.

Chelsea have had a great run with injuries and suspensions this year with no European football.

Its a significant reason why they are where they are.

I want to believe, I guess it's the romantic in me, but if this can be a catalyst for kuns game, we will demolish anything in front of us. Look at yaya, embrace the philosophy and the talent will overcome... We're still talking about the best goal scorer in the league, at his peak, if he can't adapt at his age or be motivated to do so, then he may regret it for the rest of his career. We've seen one variation with Jesus, who knows, as a pair it may be even more devastating!

Hes trying. I'm certain of that, he really has been working harder and making smarter pressing movements.

It's funny though isn't it - I desperately, desperately want this to be the stimulus for Sergio to reach a new level, but all of a sudden it's not looking like a total catastrophe if he didn't...
