He's also the only one of those forwards capable of scoring 25+ domestically..... The team who has that type of player is more often than not the team to beat!!!

I would add though that I can see 4/5 of our midfielders hitting double figures this year, if that is coupled with our attack we'll win the league IMO!!!

Agree with you both. Personally think the midfield need to improve their goal scoring. Don't think we had one who got into double figures last season which is piss poor in a top side.

The lack of width tied up with packing the middle against parked up teams made it difficult for everyone..
Nasri,Milner,Barry,Yaya are not what id call prolific tbh.

Yaya has 28 in 132 games, cracking return seeing as he has been used as the anchor for 70/80% of his time here- he'll score closer to 15 this year (having averaged 9) with the purchase of fern. Nasri should score more, very good finisher when put in on goal, the other 2? In the words of Donne Brasco "forget about it"

Nasri and Silva should be getting into double figures. Yaya is definitely capable of scoring plenty of goals if he plays in an advanced role.

Milner is good for the odd spectacular effort. Barry used to get a few goals at Villa and they weren't all penalties but, unless he leaves, I imagine his prime role this season will be to come on and help close out games when things get tight.

I can see us being top scorers this season and if we can continue to have the best defence, the title would be the almost inevitable consequence. Mourinho's Chelsea will presumably be serious contenders for best defensive record.

Aguero certainly shouldn't be rushed back but we do need him fit an in form for most of the season.

Some of the comments that I've seen on various threads recently suggest that some people have forgotten how good Sergio is: he is still the best forward at the club.

Agree

dzeko and negredo have hit 25+ goals a season before.

At the risk of starting an old argument up again which I certainly don't intend to do, there was in the last season too much focus on not losing possession even if a slightly riskier pass could have set someone free to take a good shot as well.

we didnt shoot enough its true, we tried walking it in all the time..

He was close to doing his ACL. The fact that he hasn't is very good news. Missing pre season not ideal but the alternative was disasterous
That's what he did 1 st game of last season and he never got going after that for the whole season.
Where you getting the info from fella.
A Spaniard called David & no not Silva.

so basically his knee is going to be a problem for as long as we have him now it's gone once.

Law of diminishing returns the longer he stays out.

Not quite sure the law of diminishing returns applies in this instance, JMW.

If this is the case, I hope he doesn't get much game time then.
By that I mean not needed.

This is edins 4th campaign and he isn't capable of scoring 25 league goals in the prem....even with wingers. Negredo will score shed loads but IMO won't start enough to get near that total, aguero on the other hand will most certainly start if fit and although the system change will benefit our attack no ends, it's aguero for me who will be the proverbial pig in shit- the 1st 6 months of his first season, before teams started parking the bus, we saw a guy who plays on the shoulder better than anyone in the league, he'll now have genuine width to exploit this, instead of it always being central...... His movement off the ball will be epic this year, you'll see many a goal in the 6-1 ilk!!

it does if he loses that yard of pace and acceleration that made him such a top striker, the fact he can get away is the difference maker in his play imo.
